The Derivatives - Rebirth exhibition with the main image of the robot cat Doraemon held at Bay Artspace 600 (HCMC) is open for free from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, lasting from now until June 22.

Derivatives - Rebirth is a dialogue between classic and contemporary, between memory and reality, between a once familiar world and a completely new perspective.

Inspired by the magical door - a timeless symbol of memory and movement, artist Phan Tu Tran evokes a dialogue between the past and the present through the image of Doraemon, which is closely associated with her childhood.

Doraemon is no longer just a cheerful cartoon character, but has become an artistic entity, present in symbolic compositions, where shimmering lacquer is combined with folk motifs, creating paintings that are both reminiscent and suggestive.

Doraemon and the door to the adult world

The exhibition space is divided into two parts, of which the "derivative" part is the biggest highlight.

There, Doraemon appears both funny and quiet, as if coming from another dimension.

Phan Tu Tran said she wants to create works that are both classic and modern with a playful and funny message.

Doraemon - a childhood memory of many people - has now become a bridge bringing viewers back to an innocent, pure world, while opening up thoughts about the times and identity.

The second part of the exhibition is "Rebirth", a transition between the innocent and pure image of Doraemon and works depicting an adult world full of inner conflict and conflict.

The message throughout the exhibition - "Keep the spirit of a child to step into the adult world" - is also the key to fully enjoying the works.

Because when Doraemon appears in lacquer, we not only see our childhood again, but also realize the desire to preserve purity in an increasingly complex world.
