(CLO) The poem "Reflections from a Pair of Swans" by journalist and poet Nguyen Hong Vinh tells the story of the close bond and affection between a pair of white swans. The simple verses evoke a philosophy about human life. Swans are animals where, when the male dies, the female becomes dejected, refuses to eat for a week, and eventually leaves to follow her husband, demonstrating unwavering loyalty. Humans differ from animals in their ability to perceive at a higher level, to think and act according to the laws of nature and society to survive and thrive. Yet, in the market economy, people, driven by greed and selfishness, view others with envy, even fabricating stories to slander and bring others down. From this, the author asks: through the story of the swans, will those with such mindsets be moved to compassion?!
The editorial team is pleased to present this poem:
REFLECTIONS ON THE SWAN PAIR
Since the white swans
Inseparable, day and night.
Along with the school of rainbow bream
The lake never dries up with joy.
It is unclear when it will be cold in winter.
He passed away suddenly.
She was gloomy all week.
Stop eating and drinking immediately!
As in the morning every time
The owner's heart skipped a beat when he saw it.
She lay sprawled and motionless.
Following my husband to the afterlife!
The owner stood there dumbfounded.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
The night brings with it a gnawing longing.
I feel sorry for these two loyal animals.
Lost in thought about humanity.
Some people hold grudges against each other.
Scrutinizing, hating, envying
Not a single word of concern when you're sick?!
The swan love story continues.
Live life to the fullest, cherishing the memories of the years.
O you who have evil hearts!
Thinking about it, I feel a little moved?!
Late autumn 2024
