Hanoi Department of Education and Training donated more than 100 tons of goods to support schools in flood-hit areas of Bac Ninh.

On October 12, a working delegation from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training visited and presented gifts to schools in Hoang Van commune, Bac Ninh province, affected by storm No. 11.

More than 70 trucks carrying 100 tons of essential goods, including books, school supplies, computers, shoes, clothes, necessities... were transported directly by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and Hanoi city schools to the authorities of Hoang Van commune, Bac Ninh province and schools in the area.

In recent days, the circulation of storm No. 11 has caused a historic flood in Bac Ninh, inundating tens of thousands of houses, destroying many traffic works and dykes, with estimated damage of about 1,670 billion VND. Among them, Hoang Van commune is one of the places severely affected.

Mr. Pham Van Nghi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Van Commune - said: The whole commune has over 2,400 households in 20 villages flooded. Of which, 11 villages were completely flooded with 1,174 households severely affected, 7 schools were deeply flooded, students had to stay home from school, hundreds of hectares of rice and crops, aquaculture were lost, many inter-village roads were severely damaged.

The floods have greatly affected the lives, work and study of teachers and students. Currently, teachers are cleaning up the schools as soon as the water recedes to ensure cleanliness for teaching and learning. Schools in the commune have instructed parents and students to ensure disease prevention and control after storm No. 11.

Sharing the difficulties of teachers and students in Hoang Van commune, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha, Head of the Department of Political Ideology and Student Affairs (Hanoi Department of Education and Training) said: On October 10, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training launched a campaign throughout the industry, to all teachers and staff to support and share with the people, teachers and students in the areas affected by storms No. 10 and 11.

After 2 days of launching, many schools from kindergarten, primary, secondary, high school, private schools, continuing education, secondary schools, colleges, foreign language and information technology centers in the city have enthusiastically responded. Hundreds of tons of gifts including necessities, food, and school supplies have been donated by schools to transport to flood areas.

In recent days, schools in Hanoi have actively and proactively joined hands to share and encourage local schools affected by storms and floods. These are noble gestures, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and deep affection of the staff, teachers, employees and workers of the Education and Training sector of the capital, contributing to the whole country to quickly overcome the consequences of storms No. 10 and 11, stabilize life and return to school.
