On the morning of October 11, a working delegation of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training led by Director Tran The Cuong visited and presented gifts to educational establishments in Trung Gia and Da Phuc communes - localities heavily affected by the recent storm No. 11.
40 tons of essential goods, including books, school supplies, necessities, etc., were transported directly to the authorities of two communes and schools in the area.

This amount of goods is the initial result of an emergency fundraising campaign across the Hanoi education sector, which took place from the afternoon of October 10.
Speaking at the gift-giving ceremony, Mr. Tran The Cuong shared: “In the spirit of mutual love, the entire education sector of the capital wishes to share some of the difficulties with teachers, students and local people. We hope that these gifts will help schools stabilize soon, ensuring safe learning conditions for students.”

Directly visiting affected schools, the working delegation recorded damage at many educational institutions, especially in terms of facilities, learning environment and student safety.
Although the water has begun to recede in many areas, the consequences of heavy rain and flooding are still very serious. Some schools have damaged desks, chairs, and teaching equipment; the electrical system has not been fully restored; classrooms are still damp, not ensuring learning conditions.

Mr. Tran The Cuong requested local authorities and schools to urgently clean, disinfect, check electrical safety, prevent epidemics, and prepare conditions to welcome students back to school soon. He also noted: Next week, Hanoi may continue to have rain due to the influence of cold air. Schools need to proactively follow weather forecasts and develop response scenarios to ensure student safety.

According to a quick report from the authorities of Trung Gia and Da Phuc communes, in the past few days, most of the schools in the area have been flooded. Due to prolonged power outages, students have not been able to study online.
Many households have been severely affected, making it difficult for students to travel, live, and especially go to school. The authorities of the two communes are urgently implementing flood recovery work, prioritizing the preparation of safe conditions for students to return to school as soon as possible.

At Viet Long Primary School (Da Phuc Commune), Principal Nguyen Van Thao said: The whole school has 828 students, during peak days up to 300 students had to stay home from school. As of the morning of October 11, there were still about 100 students who could not return to class. In this situation, the school organized flexible teaching to help students.
Not only schools, students are also aware of the difficulties and dangers at present.

Nguyen Duc Hieu, a 3C student at Viet Long Primary School, said: “The teacher told us to listen to our parents, not to go out when it rains, and to avoid slippery and flooded areas. I hope to go back to school with my friends soon.”
At Hong Ky Secondary School (Trung Gia Commune), Duong Gia Huy, a 9th grade student, shared: “We have been off school for 5 days and cannot study online because of the power outage. This is my final year, so I am very worried. During the days off, I try to study by myself during the day to prepare for the upcoming exam. I hope to soon stabilize my studies again.”
According to preliminary statistics, as of October 11, the entire city of Hanoi has about 16 schools affected by flooding. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training is continuing to coordinate with localities to review and provide timely support to each school.

In the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Education will continue to mobilize and organize support activities for the Department of Education in localities affected by storms, and at the same time direct units to strengthen the work of preventing and combating natural disasters and epidemics in schools, ensuring that students do not suffer prolonged interruptions in their studies.
