Education sector innovates teaching methods

The 2018 general education program, implemented from grades 1 to 12 nationwide, has now completed the innovation cycle and achieved initial positive results. In the 2025-2026 school year, the education sector will focus on teaching methods based on topics, projects, integration, STEM education, etc. to improve the quality of education.

Principal of Nguyen Hue A High School Doan Thi Kim Dung said that the school focuses on applying information technology and innovating teaching methods such as History, where students learn through topics and themes about relics, festivals, and craft villages. The results of the national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2024-2025 school year in the province showed that nearly 76% of the students won prizes; many students won high prizes in international exams; the average score of graduation exams (the 2025 high school graduation exam ranked 3rd nationwide)...

Promote the quality of formal school hours

To improve the quality of regular school hours, overcome illegal extra teaching and learning, and develop sports and music, from the 2025-2026 school year, all levels of education nationwide will organize 2 sessions/day.

Teaching is clearly divided between session 1 and session 2 to ensure scientific, flexible and comprehensive development of students. Session 1 implements the main general education program, including compulsory subjects and educational activities (for primary and secondary schools); elective subjects, advanced topics (for high schools). Session 2 organizes supplementary educational activities, capacity development, fostering excellent students, life skills education, arts, and physical education. The organization of session 1 and session 2 can be flexible in terms of time, balanced in duration to suit the conditions of each school.

Principal of Truong Han Sieu Secondary School (Hoa Lu Ward, Ninh Binh Province) Trinh Thi Van Khanh said that the school has proactively developed and implemented an educational plan, effectively exploited and used the system of facilities, equipment and teaching staff. The teaching plan is 2 sessions/day towards 5 days/week for all grades (from Monday to Friday, off on Saturday and Sunday).

Specifically, students will study 5 mornings, 4 periods each (except for grades 8 and 9, 5 periods on Wednesday because Technology is taught 2 periods/week); 3 afternoons on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 3 periods each. In the afternoon, the school prioritizes teaching the following subjects: Natural Sciences, History and Geography, Physical Education, Arts, Information Technology... subjects, activities by class or by grade; only on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, remedial teaching is arranged for students with unsatisfactory learning results; fostering excellent students and reviewing for students in final grades.
