Announcing a natural disaster emergency in Xa Mang village, Son Dien commune

Due to the impact of storm No. 5, Son Dien commune experienced prolonged heavy rain, causing flash floods and landslides.

The natural disaster has caused severe damage to housing, property, agricultural production and local infrastructure. According to statistics, 7 houses collapsed (31 people), 27 households had to be urgently evacuated due to the risk of landslides (140 people), 1 classroom collapsed, Xa Mang kindergarten is at high risk of being affected by landslides, 3 hectares of rice were damaged.

Immediately after the disaster, the People's Committee of Son Dien commune directed the urgent evacuation of 34 households/171 people to the village's soccer field, setting up temporary camps with tarpaulin and bamboo.

To ensure the safety of people and property, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Son Dien commune to closely monitor weather developments, natural disasters and landslides, promptly report to competent authorities when dangerous situations arise; at the same time, widely announce on the grassroots information system so that people know and proactively deploy response measures.

Organize the installation of warning signs, cordon off areas, set up barriers, and assign people to guard 24/7 in areas affected by landslides, and prevent people, vehicles, and livestock from entering.

Continue to check and review households living in dangerous areas, at risk of flash floods and landslides to have plans to evacuate/move to a safe place; do not let people (in evacuation areas) return home when safety is not guaranteed. Absolutely do not let human damage occur due to carelessness and subjectivity. Provide food, food, drinking water and essential necessities to people in evacuation areas, do not let people go hungry, cold, thirsty, homeless, or lack clothing.

Urgently develop, approve and deploy response plans in accordance with regulations, ensuring safety for people and property according to the "4 on-site" motto, promptly handling dangerous situations that may occur.

Assign the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Construction, Education and Training and related units according to their assigned functions and tasks to be responsible for supporting and providing specific guidance to the People's Committee of Son Dien commune in overcoming the immediate consequences of natural disasters when receiving requests from the locality, especially support for social security and education.

Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio - Television Station are responsible for informing and propagating about the above emergency situation so that people know and proactively prevent it.

Regarding the long-term solution, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead in finding a location to build a resettlement area for 34 households, completing the relocation of people to new housing in 2025. The Department of Finance will study and support investment funding for the resettlement project.
