Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh delivered the opening speech
Exploiting the potential of Vietnam - China tourism cooperation with creative, effective and practical solutions
Welcoming delegates to the Vietnam Tourism Introduction Program in Chengdu, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized that the event not only demonstrates the common determination in enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries but also contributes to promoting connection, expanding the space for people-to-people exchange, cultural and tourism trade between Vietnam and the Southwest region of China.
According to the Director, since 2018, Vietnam and China have maintained the mechanism of "Annual Meetings at the Ministry Leadership Level", along with many cooperation activities at the Department and local levels. Sichuan and the Vietnam National Tourism Administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation in 2009 and 2019, creating a solid foundation for promotion activities, delegation exchanges and business cooperation between the two sides.
In 2024 and 2025, many delegations, tourism businesses and airlines of the two countries have resumed exchanges and expanded flights between Chengdu - Hanoi and Chongqing - Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to a sharp increase in the number of two-way tourists. In the first 9 months of 2025 alone, Vietnam welcomed nearly 3.9 million Chinese visitors, of which the number of visitors from the Sichuan - Chongqing region accounted for a significant proportion and is continuing to increase rapidly.
On the contrary, more and more Vietnamese tourists choose China - especially Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Lushan, and Chongqing - as favorite destinations to experience unique culture, cuisine, and landscapes.
In the coming time, the two sides will continue to increase exchanges of high-level, technical and business delegations, aiming to effectively implement the Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Plan for the 2023-2027 period.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism wishes to closely coordinate with the Department of Culture and Tourism of Sichuan Province, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Chongqing, and tourism agencies and businesses of the two countries to increase delegation exchanges, organize promotional activities, seminars, famtrips, promote investment cooperation, human resource training, digital transformation and develop green tourism products and smart tourism.
The two sides also need to exploit their strengths in culture, nature, cuisine and aviation infrastructure, expand cooperation in developing package tours, event tourism, golf tourism and beach resort tourism, contributing to promoting the growth of bilateral tourist exchange in an increasingly sustainable and high-quality manner.
It can be affirmed that the tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China, including Chengdu and Sichuan, has achieved many practical and promising results. However, the potential for tourism development between the two sides is still very large and needs to continue to be exploited with creative, effective and practical solutions.
Today's program is a meaningful milestone, demonstrating the friendship and determination to cooperate between the two countries, while opening up new opportunities for businesses of the two countries to connect, exchange and develop unique and attractive tourism products, towards a future of rapid and sustainable development of Vietnam - China tourism.

Consul General of Vietnam in Chongqing Bui Nguyen Long speaks at the program
Tourism - A bridge connecting the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China
Vietnamese Consul General in Chongqing Bui Nguyen Long shared that over the years, Vietnam and Sichuan have maintained a friendly relationship and cooperation in many fields, including economics, trade, education, culture and tourism, which have been continuously expanded and achieved positive results.
Vietnam is Sichuan's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region, and bilateral trade has continued to grow in recent years. More and more Sichuan enterprises are investing and doing business in Vietnam, participating in fields such as manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure and renewable energy. Along with that, many Vietnamese students choose Sichuan to study languages, engineering, management, etc., becoming a bridge between the young generations of the two countries. Universities on both sides have also established cooperative relations, jointly training human resources and promoting scientific and educational exchanges.
According to the Consul General, tourism cooperation is the field with the greatest potential and the most accessible. Tourism is not only an economic driver but also an important bridge for cultural exchange and people-to-people ties. Vietnam and China are connected by mountains and rivers, share a common culture, and have many similarities in lifestyle, values and culinary traditions, creating a natural foundation for tourism exchange.
To further promote tourism cooperation, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing affirmed its willingness to act as a bridge to closely cooperate with the Sichuan Provincial Government, tourism agencies, airlines, travel companies, press agencies and universities to build a platform to promote tourism in Vietnam - Sichuan, jointly develop tourism routes, organize tourism promotion conferences and cultural festivals. At the same time, it is hoped that in the coming time, there will be more direct flights from Sichuan to major cities of Vietnam, helping people of the two countries to travel conveniently.
Vietnamese Consul General in Chongqing Bui Nguyen Long also said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Year of Humanitarian Exchange. He believes that the Vietnam-China relationship in general and the Vietnam-Sichuan relationship in particular will open up a brighter future, making tourism a bridge and a bright spot in the relationship between the two countries.
