In Lao Cai province, 12/39 high school units were affected by the storm such as landslides, flooding, etc. The school unit that was severely affected was Bat Xat Secondary and High School, where 80m of landslides collapsed 16 boarding rooms, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and threatened to continue landslides into the 4-storey dormitory, multi-purpose building, and classroom building. The functional units need to inspect and assess the safety level before allowing students to return to school. Districts, towns, and cities have 59/545 school units affected.
Yen Bai : The Department of Education and Training reported that 2 teachers and 8 students in Yen Bai province died and 2 students were injured due to storms and floods. 28 educational facilities were flooded, and up to now, the schools have cleaned up and repaired the damage; 37 educational facilities suffered landslides. In addition, a number of schools and school sites suffered small landslides, and the schools have proactively mobilized staff, teachers, employees and students to repair the damage. The initial damage to facilities, teaching and learning equipment, and books is estimated at about 45 billion VND. The number of students who lost or damaged textbooks and learning materials is estimated at about 22,787. The estimated cost is about 11.5 billion VND.
Cao Bang : The Department of Education and Training of this province said that 9 people died due to floods, including 2 teachers and 7 students, 1 student was injured. Along with that, 40 educational facilities were damaged, affected by flooding and landslides. Up to this point, 10/519 educational facilities have not been able to resume classes due to high river water and landslides and cut-off roads. Currently, nearly 700 students have not been able to contact due to loss of phone signal. Many children cannot go to school due to the cut-off terrain.
Thai Nguyen : Director of the Department of Education and Training Pham Viet Duc said that the whole province had 2 students killed, 93 schools were damaged by storm No. 3 with an estimated loss of more than 23 billion VND. Of which, there were 116 classrooms, 14 functional rooms, 2 dormitories, 6 dining rooms, 6 kitchens and 79 other auxiliary works.
Tuyen Quang : The whole province has 33 schools that were flooded and had landslides. In particular, the Chiem Hoa Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities had its entire dormitory and dining hall flooded. Preliminary information shows that about 2,000 students had their houses flooded and landslides, and their school supplies and books were swept away by the flood. Total damage is estimated at about 3.4 billion VND.
Lang Son : 78 schools of all levels were flooded, 118/650 schools were affected, damage to facilities was estimated at 3.2 billion VND. 158 students and 38 teachers were affected after the storm and flood.
