Like any other profession, journalism requires investment, learning, and striving with intelligence, heart, and mind. All are forged over time and through practical work to become a sharp writer. Journalism is therefore not simply "holding a pen" or "typing on the keyboard" but much more, as writer Nguyen Tuan said about journalism: "It is a profession that uses words to create events so that events can be born."
Journalism is truly a profession of creativity, passion and dedication. Without creativity, the transmission of information will gradually become routine, boring the reader. Without creativity, the words become dry, not lingering and not conveying the full meaning to the reader. Without passion, no profession will be successful.
In journalism, passion seems to determine success or failure many times over. Passion is associated with enthusiasm, how to bring information to readers as quickly as possible, helping readers have objective assessments and insight. And without passion, journalists easily give up.
Journalists and reporters also face many hardships, difficulties, and even dangers. They also ignore temptations to maintain the ethics of revolutionary journalists, true to the character of true journalists. They are ready to rush to scenes and locations that they know will be dangerous, sometimes even affecting their lives. Journalism is about discovering, criticizing, and strongly influencing social life, regardless of the type of journalism. The press always accompanies society, contributing to building and developing a prosperous country.
In today’s era, amidst the information explosion, writers are under pressure from social networks. Therefore, every reporter must find a way to learn, adapt, and provide information quickly, comprehensively, but accurately and honestly. Moreover, the level of readers and the public is constantly improving, requiring writers to have not only moral qualities but also professional competence and a broad understanding of all aspects.
Journalism is a profession with both glory and hardship. But when holding a pen, journalists should always keep “a sharp pen, a pure heart, and a bright mind”./.
