Armed forces support people to overcome the consequences of floods. |
Soldiers in the hearts of the people
On the morning of October 9, when the floodwaters had just receded, more than 500 officers and soldiers of Regiment 209 (Division 312, stationed in Song Cong) were present in Phan Dinh Phung ward, immediately starting to clean up the environment. At Vo Nguyen Giap Square and the Provincial Cultural Center, the sounds of brooms, shovels, and trucks carrying mud and dirt resounded incessantly. After only a few hours, the area that was once flooded with mud had been "given a new coat".
Not only in the central area, the Regiment's working groups also spread to many other schools and residential areas that were heavily affected. Previously, during the days of heavy rain, officers and soldiers of the unit urgently supported people in Trung Thanh commune, Song Cong ward, Bach Quang to evacuate from deep flooded areas, ensuring absolute safety for people.
Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Anh, Political Commissar of Regiment 209, shared: For us, serving the people is a command from the heart. The floods have passed, but there are still many hardships and losses. The officers and soldiers of the Regiment will continue to accompany the local government and people to soon stabilize their lives.
Immediately after the water receded, Brigade 210 (Military Region 1) also mobilized more than 100 officers and soldiers to assist in cleaning up the Thai market area, Vo Nguyen Giap Square and flooded offices and schools. With the spirit of "serving the people", the soldiers worked continuously, returning the landscape to a clean and beautiful state in just a few hours.
Captain Ha Duc Thanh, Brigade 210, shared: We consider this a political mission, a soldier's affection for the people. When people are in trouble, the army must be present to reassure them. Not only the main units, many forces under Military Region 1 also quickly marched to the flooded areas to support people in overcoming the consequences.
Special Forces Battalion 20 and soldiers of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Provincial Police) supported schools in cleaning classrooms and equipment. Warehouse K21, Logistics and Technical Department, mobilized more than 200 officers and soldiers to Linh Son ward - where many households were deeply flooded.

Police on the front line of hardship
As the core force in ensuring security and order, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police proactively deployed a plan to respond to the storm and the circulation of storm No. 11 very early. During the peak days, nearly 15,000 officers and soldiers along with more than 3,000 vehicles of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police were mobilized to participate in the rescue. Many soldiers were drenched in the rain, waded through water for hours, quickly ate boxed lunches or dry food packages to reach isolated households in time.

Support people to move out of deeply flooded and isolated areas. |
During the stormy days, the provincial police force assisted in evacuating thousands of people and a large amount of valuable assets of agencies, businesses and people, contributing to minimizing damage. Many officers and soldiers put aside their personal matters to care for the people.
The whole province has more than 300 families of officers and soldiers affected by storms and floods; many of them could not return home in time to help their families because they were on duty. Notably, there was a case of a soldier who was on duty when his mother was swept away by floodwaters at home - a heartbreaking loss but also a beautiful symbol of the spirit of "sacrificing oneself for the people".
From the green shirt of the soldier to the uniform of the police officer, all are united in the spirit of "serving the people". They are present in the most difficult places, being the support for the people in the rain and floods. During those fierce days, the image of the Thai Nguyen armed forces sticking to the area, not afraid of danger, not afraid of hardship, deeply engraved in the hearts of the people trust, respect and gratitude.
