The domestic terminal parking lot at Tan Son Nhat airport (Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City) currently has to reserve an area of more than 500 square meters on the 5th floor to park motorbikes that passengers leave behind and then 'forget'.
According to records, thousands of "overdue" motorbikes are stacked up and covered in dust, stretching out as far as the eye can see.
Observing, the area has a sign "Overdue Vehicle" with many types of motorbikes such as: manual transmission motorbikes, scooters, motorcycles... Due to being 'forgotten' for a long time, most of the vehicles are covered in dust, have flat tires, and are rusted.
A representative of TCP Investment Joint Stock Company (the management unit of Tan Son Nhat Airport's domestic parking garage) said that the above number of vehicles were parked by customers, but after 12 months they still had not come to pick them up, so they were considered overdue. Every week and every month, the garage counts the number of overdue vehicles and then moves them to the 5th floor area.
"All vehicles are cleaned, drained of fuel, and disconnected from the power source before being brought to the assembly area to ensure safety and prevent fire and explosion," the representative informed.
However, the parking lot management unit believes that leaving too many "ownerless" motorbikes here for a long time will increase the business's costs, especially for fire safety. Therefore, the unit hopes that the competent authority will support and guide the business to handle expired vehicles in accordance with the law.
At the same time, we also hope that people and passengers when parking their vehicles must comply with the regulations of the garage and avoid leaving them for too long.
