On the evening of September 11, at the closing ceremony of the Hospital Management Asia (HMA) Conference 2025 organized by the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Asian Hospital Management Association, the Organizing Committee presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Dinh Hoi, former Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the first Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, for his contributions to the Vietnamese medical career.
Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Dinh Hoi graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1960. In 1993, he was appointed as the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Despite taking on heavy management responsibilities, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi still maintains the spirit of a teacher and physician.
During his career, he guided 23 doctoral theses, 9 level II specialized theses, 12 master's theses and many level I specialized and residency theses; edited 10 textbooks, 5 monographs; chaired many national and ministerial research projects and published more than 70 scientific reports. He also held the position of Head of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Center of the Specialized Medical Center...
His great contributions have been recognized with many noble awards: Second-class Anti-American Resistance Medal in 1985, 40-year Party membership badge, Second-class Labor Medal in 2002 and 2009, People's Teacher title in 1996, Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2006, Ton That Tung Award in 2004...
The 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference 2025 took place over two days (September 10 and 11) attracting over 1,500 delegates from over 30 countries. The conference aimed to help hospital owners, CEOs, directors, physicians and healthcare leaders gain insights into healthcare management thinking, patient safety, patient experience, healthcare staff experience, best practices and solutions from around the world, and create a networking forum in Asia.
