In mid-September, on many central streets of Sa Pa ward, it is easy to see a clear change in the urban appearance. This is the result of the peak period of "80 days and nights to restore discipline, order, traffic safety and urban order" launched by Sa Pa ward in mid-July, with the determination to build a modern, civilized and friendly tourist city.

Over the past week, awnings, canopies, ramps, and platforms encroaching on the sidewalk have been removed; illegal billboards no longer obstruct the view; sidewalks have become clear, giving back space to pedestrians.
During this peak period, Sa Pa ward authorities focused on implementing many synchronous activities, such as: propagating and reminding people to comply with the law; strictly handling acts of encroaching on roads and sidewalks for business purposes, illegal parking; removing canopies and signs violating traffic safety corridors. The important goal is not only to restore urban order but also to create a safe living environment, improve the quality of tourism services, and preserve the image of Sa Pa in the eyes of tourists.

After launching the peak period, the ward's Urban Order Team coordinated with the police force, the Department of Culture, organizations, and residential groups to carry out extensive propaganda work to each business household and resident, urging them not to use corridors and sidewalks as business places.
Neighborhood groups also got involved, posting notices in the general group and sending documents to each household so that everyone was aware of the regulations. Thanks to this, many households voluntarily dismantled illegal constructions before the authorities took action.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Huong, a business owner on Thach Son Street, Sa Pa Ward, said: “Nearly 2 months ago, we were notified and communicated very clearly. The residential group also sent a document to the group so that everyone could understand the regulations. When we were mobilized, we strictly complied, together hoping that the street would become greener, cleaner and more beautiful.”

With the consensus of the people, last week, when entering the final days of the peak period, the authorities also organized a campaign to remind and dismantle encroaching constructions on central streets. Items such as awnings, bridges, platforms, and billboards encroaching on traffic corridors on central streets were all resolutely handled.
Mr. Doan Hoang Anh, Head of the Urban Order Team of Sa Pa Ward, said: “In this period, we have implemented a peak of 80 days and nights, requiring all people to comply. Up to now, we have basically completed over 90% of the work. People have a high consensus, households with questions have also been clearly explained and seriously complied. In the area, there are no cases of hindering the activities of the authorities.”

In fact, encroachment on sidewalks and roads has long caused public outrage. This situation not only affects the urban landscape and hinders traffic, but also reduces the beautiful image of a famous tourist area like Sa Pa. Therefore, this peak period is considered an important step, both thoroughly handling violations and raising people's awareness of obeying the law.
The activities will not stop when this peak period ends. We will continue to maintain inspection, reminder and propaganda work so that people do not re-encroach or violate regulations, thereby contributing to building a more civilized and modern Sa Pa ward.
According to Mr. Tran Cao Hai, Deputy Captain of the Urban Order Management Team of Sa Pa Ward, the 80-day peak period aims to restore urban order, contributing to building a civilized, bright, green, clean, beautiful urban area, especially returning space to a tourist urban area like Sa Pa.
To maintain this achievement, in addition to the determination of the authorities, Sa Pa ward also propagates and mobilizes the cooperation and consensus of the people. Only when each household and each business voluntarily implements and does not re-encroach, can urban order be truly maintained in the long term. This is also an important task, contributing to building Sa Pa more and more beautiful in the eyes of the people and tourists from all over the world.
