Defeating Indonesia, U23 Vietnam won the U23 Southeast Asian Championship for the third time
U23 Vietnam had a courageous match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Indonesia) on the evening of July 29 when they won a narrow 1-0 victory over the home team. Cong Phuong's only goal in the 37th minute not only brought the championship to the "Golden Star Warriors" but also marked the third consecutive championship title in the regional playground.
Before the final match, Jens Raven had declared that he would score many goals against U23 Vietnam and win the championship with U23 Indonesia. However, during the 90 minutes at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, the main striker of the team from the archipelago country only had one notable situation, a header over the bar in the 5th minute.

"The U23 Vietnam defense played very well, they played together, making it difficult for us to create opportunities. Regarding the missed situation, the ball flew in and forced me to make an immediate decision, but the header sent the ball over the crossbar.
It's a pity, if we could have taken advantage of that situation, we would have played more easily. Anyway, the whole team tried and U23 Vietnam completely deserved the championship title. Thank you for the support of the fans. Next season we will be here with the championship trophy," Jens Raven shared with Indonesian television after the match.
Striker Jens Raven was born in 2005 and is 1m89 tall. Before meeting U23 Vietnam, the Dutch player attracted the attention of the media and Southeast Asian football fans when he scored 7 goals, taking the lead in the race for the Golden Boot.
However, facing the disciplined and solid defense of U23 Vietnam, this striker was completely "locked" and helpless in finding a way into goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien's goal.
As a result, U23 Indonesia accepted a 0-1 defeat against U23 Vietnam, while Jens Raven ended the tournament as the top scorer but could not reach the championship.
The victory of coach Kim Sang Sik's team once again affirmed the bravery of the "Golden Dragons" and showed the difference that comes from disciplined collective play.
