Informing the press this morning (December 23), Fansipan Legend media representative said that at around 5am the same day, at the top of Fansipan mountain (the highest mountain in Vietnam in Lao Cai province), the temperature dropped to -1 degree Celsius, causing frost to appear.
Early this morning (December 23), the temperature on top of Fansipan (Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province) dropped below 1 degree Celsius, a thin layer of ice appeared on the ground and grass.
Due to the low temperature, a thin layer of ice appeared at the top of Fansipan. This is a rare natural phenomenon, usually only occurring in the high mountains of some northern mountainous provinces in the cold winter. Tourists who were present here this morning felt excited and delighted with the sight of ice and snow.
Fansipan Peak is located at an altitude of 3,143m, Fansipan Peak often starts to get cold from November to February of the following year, accompanied by many long cold spells, the temperature sometimes drops below 0 degrees Celsius and frost appears.
Weather experts explain that ice appeared on Fansipan peak because the sky was clear and the temperature was low. Water vapor and dew on the surface met the low temperature and turned into ice.
