Fishermen have a big catch of shrimp

(Baoquangngai.vn)- In recent days, dozens of fishing boats of fishermen in Quang Ngai City have gone out to sea to catch shrimp. Thanks to a good harvest and good prices, each fisherman earns more than 1 - 3 million VND after each trip.

Shrimp season usually lasts from the end of February to the fourth lunar month in Tinh Khe sea area. Fishermen start going to sea from 2-3 am and by noon they can harvest 4-5 quintals of shrimp. Having just weighed shrimp to sell to traders, fisherman Phan Van Quang, in Ky Xuyen village, Tinh Ky commune, shared that after waiting about 1km from the boat, he can drop his net to catch shrimp. Depending on the day, fishing boats can encounter more or less shrimp. Today, after 5 hours at sea, I collected 25 baskets of shrimp, about 4.5 quintals. With the current selling price, one trip can earn more than 5 million VND.

Fisherman Cao Van Tu (65 years old), in Ky Xuyen village, Tinh Ky commune, shared that each shrimp fishing boat has about 1-3 crew members. This year's shrimp fishing season, almost every boat going out to sea has a good income. Each day, a boat can make 1-3 trips. After deducting expenses, each fisherman can pocket 1-3 million VND/day.

Currently, in the coastal waters of Tinh Khe commune, there are about 30 fishing boats of Tinh Ky and Tinh Khe fishermen participating in shrimp fishing. Chairman of Tinh Ky commune People's Committee Nguyen Hoai Thanh said that there are currently more than 20 fishing boats of Tinh Ky fishermen participating in shrimp fishing in the coastal waters. This year, local fishermen have had both a good harvest and good prices, so everyone is excited.

Dried shrimp is currently quite expensive, from 50 - 60 thousand VND/kg.

It is currently the middle of the shrimp season, so fishermen are taking advantage of the opportunity to go out to sea every day. Although shrimp fishing brings a good income, it is very hard work. Every time they go out to sea, fishermen have to work continuously for many hours.

Fresh shrimp is used as a fresh food source in daily meals, can also be made into fish sauce, dried. Currently, dried shrimp is also being sold at a fairly high price of 50 - 60 thousand VND/kg. If the weather continues to be favorable, fishermen in Quang Ngai City can exploit sea shrimp until the end of the fourth lunar month.
