Dengue fever is known as one of the infectious diseases caused by viruses, transmitted from sick people to healthy people through the bites of Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (mainly Aedes aegypti mosquitoes), the time of mosquito activity is usually between 6-8 am and 16-18 pm. When infected with dengue fever, the patient has a high fever continuously for more than 2 days, accompanied by subcutaneous bleeding, bleeding gums. More severe cases may vomit blood, defecate, urinate blood. There are even cases where the fever is gone but the patient feels tired, lethargic, cold limbs, little urination, bloody stools.
What is worrying is that there is still no vaccine to prevent dengue fever nor specific treatment. Complications of the disease can occur in any organ or part of the body, affecting the health of the patient as well as the quality of life of the whole family.
In the province, on June 26, 2025, the first patient in 2025 with a positive rapid test result for dengue fever was recorded, a male; on June 30, 2025, the second patient with a positive rapid test result was recorded.
These cases of dengue fever can easily become a source of disease spread in the community if they are not vigilant and proactive in implementing disease prevention measures.
Patients need to be examined, isolated and treated promptly. People need to proactively take measures to prevent mosquito bites such as: sleeping under mosquito nets, wearing long-sleeved clothes, spraying mosquito repellent, cleaning the environment, covering water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs and causing bugs to develop.
Dengue fever is divided into 4 basic types. People who get dengue fever for the first time can get any type of virus. After getting sick, the body will produce antibodies, helping the patient not to get the type of virus that they have had before. However, the patient can get dengue fever again with a different type, making the disease more severe than the previous time, very susceptible to dangerous complications, even threatening the patient's life.
Therefore, whether you have had dengue fever or not, everyone needs to be vigilant and proactive in implementing disease prevention measures as recommended by the Ministry of Health to protect the health of their families and the community. Promptly visit the nearest medical facility to detect the disease when there are signs of suspected illness such as fever accompanied by the appearance of hemorrhagic spots on the skin or bleeding gums.
