The scientific workshop “Rights of the elderly in the context of population aging in Vietnam: Current situation and issues” aims to exchange and share experiences on laws and practices to ensure the rights of the elderly in the context of Vietnam being in a period of rapid population aging and preparing to enter the period of aging population. From there, recommendations are proposed to improve policies, laws and mechanisms to promote the guarantee of the rights of the elderly in a comprehensive, fair and humane manner.




Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Tuong Duy Kien, Director of the Institute of Human Rights, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics , suggested that scientists and delegates focus on discussing and deepening the issues: The current situation of population aging and the rights of the elderly in Vietnam in relation to the general context of the region and the world; thereby, clearly identifying the opportunities and challenges that

Associate Professor, Dr. Tuong Duy Kien believes that, with the serious spirit, scientific responsibility and enthusiastic participation of experts and managers, the Workshop will bring many practical contributions to research and policy making on the elderly in the coming time.
This workshop is an opportunity to listen, dialogue, share and, more importantly, contribute to the process of forming a new policy system on the elderly, especially in the context of Vietnam implementing Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025 of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health; National Strategy on the Elderly to 2035, with a vision to 2045 approved by the Prime Minister on February 21, 2025.
