Hanoi has allowed primary school students to stay home for the past three days due to morning temperatures above 9 degrees Celsius. According to Hanoi regulations, at 6am when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, primary school students are off school; below 7 degrees Celsius, secondary and high school students are off school.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold spell (average daily temperature of 13 degrees or lower) in the North will last until January 26, after which the weather will turn to severe cold (average daily temperature of 15 degrees or lower). After January 28, the weather will gradually warm up.

"We have no place to stay because we sweep the trash on the street. The night shift starts at 4:30 p.m. and we only get a break when all the trash is gone.
