On the afternoon of June 1, thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists and people of Hue were present at Dieu De National Temple, solemnly attending the Moc Duc (Buddha bathing) ceremony and the procession of Buddha to Tu Dam Pagoda.

From early morning, Bach Dang Street was crowded with Buddhists heading to Dieu De Pagoda to attend the Bathing Ceremony. Before the ceremony took place, monks, nuns, and Buddhists lined up, solemnly and respectfully waiting for the religious dignitaries to perform the rituals.
At around 4:30 p.m., Venerable Thich Duc Thanh, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Thua Thien - Hue province, went to the main hall, along with other dignitaries, monks, nuns, and Buddhists, to begin the Bathing Ceremony.

After the rituals, Venerable Thich Duc Thanh poured scented water on the statue of the newborn Buddha, recreating the image of the gods bathing the Buddha when he was born; meaning to remove worries, cleanse the body and mind, aiming for the purity of each Buddhist.
This traditional ceremony has been held continuously since 1957.

Below the temple grounds, thousands of Buddhists solemnly pray.
The bathing ceremony lasts about 30 minutes.
Immediately after the bathing ceremony, the Buddha's body was carried onto a flower carriage by all monks, nuns, and Buddhists, and paraded along the route of the Buddha Procession Committee.
The convoy departed from Dieu De Pagoda, passed Dong Ba Market, crossed Truong Tien Bridge, turned onto Le Loi Street, then onto Dien Bien Phu Street to end the journey at Tu Dam Pagoda.
Immediately after the bathing ceremony, all monks, nuns and Buddhists respectfully welcomed the Buddha's body leaving Dieu De Pagoda.

This year's Buddha procession took place in quite favorable weather. Along the streets of Hue City, there were many people and Buddhists standing in long lines waiting for the flower caravan to pass. They stood along both sides of the road, showing their respect, clasping their hands solemnly praying for world peace and happiness for all living beings.
