Frattesi questioned coach Inzaghi for not using him in the Champions League final. |
After the 0-5 defeat to PSG on June 1, Frattesi questioned the coach in the dressing room, demanding an explanation for being “abandoned” in the most important match of the season. Number 16 demanded an explanation as to why he was not used, despite his great contribution to the journey to the final.
The exchange only lasted a few seconds but was full of pressure and disappointment, when Frattesi did not receive a satisfactory answer. On social networks, Frattesi emotionally shared: “I am completely broken… I sacrificed a whole year, experienced countless emotions with Inter, but not being able to play hurts me a lot. This defeat will hurt me for a long time.”
Meanwhile, coach Simone Inzaghi briefly explained: "I did not put Frattesi on the field because I chose Zalewski to play behind Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. I was also forced to make two mandatory substitutions. When I was 3 goals down, I decided not to put Frattesi on the field."
The 25-year-old Italian was benched throughout the Champions League final - where Inter Milan lost 0-5 to PSG - despite scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final against Barcelona and also scoring at the Allianz Arena in the win over Bayern.
In his social media posts, the Italian midfielder still shows his love for the Serie A runner-up club. However, with these cracks, his future and that of coach Inzaghi at Inter are being questioned.
