Vietnam national team player seriously injured

Midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan suffered a broken rib and was forced to undergo surgery after a collision with an opponent in the match between Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh in round 3 of V.League 2025/26 on the evening of August 27.

In the 54th minute, when the score was 1-0 in favor of the home team, midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan collided very hard with Nguyen Hoang Trung Nguyen and Joseph Onoja of Ha Tinh. He collapsed on the field in pain and had to leave the field to make way for his young teammate Nguyen Ba Tien just a few minutes later.

Immediately after receiving first aid on the field, Ngoc Tan was taken straight to the hospital. According to the initial diagnosis from the medical team and information from the Thanh team, he suffered a broken rib, affected his lungs and had to undergo surgery. It is expected that this player will need at least 2-3 months to fully recover.

This is bad news for fans because nearly half a year ago, Ngoc Tan had to take a long break due to a broken fibula. Moreover, Thanh Hoa 's foreign players have not left much of an impression in the context of this team sinking to the bottom of the rankings after 3 rounds.

Doan Ngoc Tan was injured before the Vietnam national team gathered. However, his absence did not affect coach Kim Sang-sik's plan too much.
