On the morning of March 30, Tien Phong Marathon 2025 officially took place in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.
Tien Phong Marathon started in 1958, is one of the oldest sports tournaments in Vietnam, and is now the National Marathon and Long Distance Championship.
This year’s tournament is part of the plan to select athletes for the national team, preparing for the 33rd SEA Games in December in Thailand. Therefore, Vietnam’s top runners have put forth their best efforts to achieve the best ranking in this morning’s competition.
In the women's 5km category, Vietnam's number 1 middle and long distance runner Nguyen Thi Oanh still proved her superior class when she finished with a time of 16 minutes and 19 seconds, thereby winning this event for the 9th consecutive time at the tournament.
Oanh's achievement was quite far behind the runners who came in right after her: Bui Thi Ngan - silver medal with a time of 17 minutes, Nguyen Thu Quyen - bronze medal with a time of 17 minutes 7 seconds.

Also extending his championship record like Nguyen Thi Oanh, athlete Do Quoc Luat continued to dominate the men's 10km distance with his 11th consecutive championship, finishing with a time of 30 minutes and 44 seconds.
Athlete Hoang Nguyen Thanh won the men's full marathon (42.195km) for the 6th consecutive time with a time of 2 hours 32 minutes 23 seconds.
In other notable events, Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa had an accident with a fall due to the rain making the running track slippery, but she still won the women's full marathon (42.195km) with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 9 seconds.
In the 21km selection race, Nguyen Trung Cuong won first place in the men's category with a time of 1 hour 7 minutes 15 seconds. Pham Thi Hong Le won first place in the women's category with a time of 1 hour 17 minutes 44 seconds.
Besides veteran runners, the tournament also witnessed the progress of some young talents such as Nguyen Viet Ai, who won the 10km youth men's race with a time of 30 minutes and 48 seconds - only 4 seconds behind his senior Do Quoc Luat.
After Tien Phong Marathon 2025 , Vietnamese athletics continues to aim for the Unified Speed Cup (taking place from April 14 to 20 in Ho Chi Minh City) to test, evaluate and select athletes for the national team towards the 33rd SEA Games.
