Cyclist Nguyen Thi That successfully defended her title in the women's mass start event at the 2023 Asian Road Cycling Championship, taking place on June 12 in Thailand.
The women's mass start event at the 2023 Asian Road Cycling Championships is 109km long. The track with few steep slopes is favorable for Nguyen Thi That, but competitors from China, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea are also highly appreciated.

Near the finish line, racer Nguyen Thi That made an impressive sprint to finish first after nearly 3 hours of competition, thereby winning the gold medal. This is the third time in her career that the racer from An Giang has won the Asian championship in this category after 2018 and 2022. On the racetrack, Nguyen Thi That received strong support from teammates Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai and Tran Thi Thuy Trang.
With the Asian championship, Nguyen Thi That is likely to be awarded a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Nguyen Thi That's next goal is to aim for a historic gold medal for Vietnamese cycling at the 19th Asian Games , taking place in Hangzhou (China) from September 23 to October 8, 2023.

Previously, in the 46km women's youth mass start event, the Vietnamese cycling team also won a gold medal with the victory of Thach Thi Ngoc Thao.
