At the Closing Ceremony, Awarding Ceremony of the Contest and Opening of the Exhibition " Nam Dinh Art Photography" 2024 held on the morning of December 2 at the Youth Cultural Center ( Nam Dinh province), journalist Bui Huu Tuan, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ha Nam Newspaper, member of the Ha Nam Provincial Literature and Arts Association was awarded First Prize with the work "The Young Women of the Field".
The work was created at the Traditional Metal Casting Festival of Tong Xa Village (Lam Town, Y Yen District, Nam Dinh Province). This is one of the traditional craft village festivals imbued with local cultural identity, organized by the people to commemorate the merits of the Holy Ancestor Zen Master Nguyen Minh Khong. In addition to traditional rituals, the festival is solemnly organized with many cultural activities such as Cheo singing, Van singing, and folk games such as climbing the greasy pole, catching ducks in the pond, Tom Diem and Mud Wrestling... The author has recorded the most beautiful moments of the mud wrestling game for women.
Although the festival is held annually, the mud wrestling game is only held every three years. Therefore, the game has attracted many viewers and players because it is deeply characteristic of wet rice culture. The photo depicts the nature of the game and the spirit of the country girls participating with a deep spiritual consciousness praying for favorable weather and bountiful crops.
Along with 800 works by more than 100 authors, both professional and amateur photographers, participating in the 2024 Nam Dinh Art Photography Contest, the work “Nhung Thieu Nu Dong Chiem” by journalist Bui Huu Tuan won the first prize. In addition, the organizing committee awarded 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes, and 4 consolation prizes to 8 other works.
The contest was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province to build a database of images of Nam Dinh land and people; at the same time, to encourage, motivate and honor photographers to create many works of artistic value, promoting creative photography activities. The contest's organizing committee exhibited 68 works selected from 800 entries selected by the art council through 3 rounds of competition. These are works of artistic and ideological quality, vividly reflecting the rhythm of contemporary life, the beauty of traditional culture, and achievements in the construction and socio -economic development of Nam Dinh.
