The market turned green again in the first trading session of October, but liquidity dropped sharply as investors awaited confirmation of the market trend.
The Vietnamese stock market experienced significant volatility around the 1,150-point mark of the VN-Index on October 2nd due to shrinking liquidity. Investor sentiment remained fearful, hesitant to invest. The market opened with a nearly 5-point increase in the VN-Index but then experienced sharp fluctuations, even falling below the reference level at times, before closing slightly higher.
In this trading session, the seafood and agriculture sectors saw the strongest gains, with seafood stocks like ANV and FMC hitting their upper limit, CMX rising 5.91%, VHC 2.66%, IDI 4.83%, ACL 4.41%, and ABT 3.26%... The agriculture sector saw BAF rise 5.15%, DBC 2.51%, and HAG 2.33%...
Real estate and public investment stocks also performed well, with VRE rising 2.87%, CII 2.54%, GVR 4.61%, PDR 1.46%, VCG 2.9%, HHV 4.76%, FCN 4.45%, C4G 3.12%, and so on.
Stock prices edged slightly higher, with AGR rising 2.31%, BVS 1.92%, HCM 1.8%, SBS 1.19%, SHS 1.16%, VCI 1.33%; SSI and VDS both increased by nearly 1%...
The banking sector stocks showed mixed performance, with gains and losses within a small range. Specifically, ABB, ACB, MBB, MSB, STB, VIB, and VPB increased; whileSHB , VCB, TPB, TCB, LPB, HDB, EIB, CTG, and BID decreased…
At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 1.1 points (0.10%) to 1,155.2 points, with 280 gainers, 201 losers, and 69 unchanged stocks. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 0.37 points (0.16%) to 236.72 points, with 108 gainers, 66 losers, and 67 unchanged stocks. Liquidity decreased sharply, with the total market trading value reaching only approximately 13,600 billion VND, of which trading on the HOSE accounted for only about 11,500 billion VND.
Amidst a sharp decline in liquidity, a positive sign is that foreign investors stopped selling and returned to net buying of nearly 177 billion VND on the HOSE exchange. Stocks with the highest net buying by foreign investors included SSI (83.86 billion VND), DXG (49.78 billion VND), DGC (44.1 billion VND), and VRE (40.53 billion VND). All of these stocks saw price increases during this trading session.
