News from Noi Bai International Airport, in the first 6 months of 2025, the number of passengers passing through this airport reached 16.5 million, the total number of flights taking off and landing reached more than 100 thousand.
Welcoming 16.5 million visitors in the first 6 months of the year
Notably, the main route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with departure and arrival points at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat, is continuously in the top 10 "busiest" domestic routes in the world , creating a very high frequency of operations and service pressure at this airport.
Along with that, Noi Bai International Passenger Terminal T2 has served more than 7 million international passengers in the first 6 months of the year. This number of passengers has exceeded the designed capacity of Noi Bai Terminal T2 (the current capacity of Noi Bai Terminal T2 is 10 million passengers/year and is under construction to expand to 15 million passengers/year).
In the context of operational pressure, the on-time takeoff rate (OTP) in the past year (from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025) at Noi Bai airport remained at 74%. Of which, the main reason for delayed flights was due to the airline's operational activities (93.8%); delayed flights due to weather accounted for 1.8%, due to the airport's equipment and services accounted for 0.8%, flight operations accounted for 2.5% and other reasons accounted for 1.1% of the total number of delayed flights.
Noi Bai International Airport has determined that the punctuality index needs to be improved in the coming time. Noi Bai Airport is also actively coordinating with airlines and ground units to deploy synchronous solutions to improve the OTP rate in the coming time.

Terminal T2 expansion to be completed by the end of this year
As the largest international airport in the North, a representative of Noi Bai airport said that Noi Bai continues to focus on optimizing flight operations using technology to officially apply the A-CDM model in phase 1. Relevant units are proactive in coordinating decision-making, sharing information, and effectively using flight data to ensure that flights are operated in compliance with the A-CDM process. In the first 6 months of the year, 100,002 flights were operated through this system, helping to effectively coordinate the use of runways and aprons, reduce waiting time on the ground, and contribute to improving flight punctuality.
In addition, Noi Bai International Airport continues to closely coordinate with the Air Traffic Management Center ATFMC, airlines, and ground units to deploy the application of the Level 3 multi-node Air Traffic Management (ATFM) method in Vietnam, thereby enhancing the initiative in flight schedule management of airlines as well as minimizing the need for flights to wait when affected by adverse operating conditions such as weather, military flight activities, economic and political events of the country, etc.
The expansion project of Noi Bai T2 Passenger Terminal is being urgently implemented in a rolling manner, with construction and operation at the same time. Upon completion (expected by the end of 2025), the project will contribute to fundamentally solving the overload situation, creating spacious space and improving passenger service capacity.
Regarding services, Noi Bai International Airport is comprehensively reviewing the operations of franchised businesses, requiring quality assurance, price listing, and rectifying the service attitude of staff. Violations will be strictly handled according to the contract.
The Port continues to invest in technology to increase convenience, such as implementing biometric check-in procedures on the VNeID platform, equipping an automatic check-in kiosk system, and the ACV iCute online check-in platform to enhance the experience for passengers passing through the Port.
