On September 22, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Ha district confirmed that the unit had coordinated with local authorities to record, verify and investigate the case of vandalism and cutting across the trunks of hundreds of Mac Mac trees of Mr. Vu Dinh Dung's family (42 years old, Tan Thanh commune, Lam Ha district).

Mr. Dung said that on the evening of September 19, his family’s mac mac garden, which was in harvest, had 325 trees cut across by thieves, leaving them beyond repair. The garden was surrounded by B40 mesh, but thieves cut the mesh at 3 locations to enter the garden.

Mr. Dung's family garden is nearly 5,000 square meters, with about 450 mac mac trees, but 325 trees have been cut down. The remaining trees are not concentrated, so it is very difficult to take care of them, and are considered a total loss . According to Mr. Dung, this mac mac garden has only been planted for more than 6 months, but has already harvested nearly 10 tons, at peak times, 1.4 tons of fruit can be picked per day. Currently, the price is about 20,000 VND/kg, so the garden owner's loss is quite large.

Mr. Dung's family's macadamia garden has been planted for more than 6 months and is achieving good productivity.

This is not the first time Mr. Dung’s family’s crops and livelihood have been destroyed by thieves. A few years ago, when Mr. Dung was still growing mulberry and raising silkworms, thieves also sprayed pesticides on his mulberry garden, causing an entire batch of silkworms to be abandoned.

After receiving the report, Tan Thanh Commune Police, Lam Ha District coordinated with relevant authorities to record the scene, work with the garden owner to investigate and clarify the incident.
