In 2023, the musical “Shrek: The Musical” was held for the first time at the Hanoi Opera House. The show attracted more than 3,000 guests and thousands of positive responses on social networks.
Following the success of "Shrek: The Musical 2023", production unit The YOUniverse will bring the show back with a new look called "Shrek: On National Tour".

The program takes place at Hoa Binh Theater, Ho Chi Minh City from July 12-14 and at the National Convention Center, Hanoi from August 2-3.
According to Mr. Nicholas Gentile, Director of The YOUniverse, in 2024, the musical "Shreck" will return to Vietnam on a larger and more spectacular scale.
This time, the main message that "Shrek: On National Tour" brings is equality: gender equality, class equality, appearance equality, respect for each individual's differences and everyone deserves to be happy.
At the same time, the musical has many innovations in setting and costumes, promising to bring an exciting space to the audience.
In the musical Shrek 2024, costumes made from recycled plastic and old fabrics have created creative and novel costumes. Using these recycled materials not only helps protect the environment but also affirms the trend of sustainable fashion . The recycled costumes are meticulously embroidered by professional craftsmen, bringing unique and elaborate beauty.
Additionally, natural materials such as cotton and natural fibres are also used, contributing to the eco-friendliness and highlighting the sustainable costume message in this musical.
Mr. Nicholas Gentile also said that with the popularity of “Shreck the Musical”, this year the crew will take the musical on tour nationwide. In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the musical will be performed at “Broadway-sized” theaters so that a large audience can enjoy it.
Old and new audiences alike are looking forward to “Shrek: On National Tour” continuing the unique artistic elements of the previous season, bringing a humane story that connects all generations.

The musical “Shreck” will come to Vietnamese audiences for the first time in 2023, under the copyright purchase. The show is produced by a creative team including Meritorious Artist Dang Chau Anh, director Ylaria Rogers, choreographer Madison Price and music director Nicholas Gentile.
This art project is considered The YOUniverse's biggest in 2023, invested in all aspects, from expertise, costumes to stage, professionally and magnificently staged.
Along with the musical, the “Shrek the Musical” project also has many parallel events to support and explore the artistic and creative potential of non-professional young people and children with disabilities, helping them have the opportunity to access musicals, shine on stage and spread positive values to the community.
