Amidst the difficulties in domestic competitions, Tottenham and Man Utd will end the season with the hope of competing successfully in the 6th all-English European Cup final, scheduled to take place in San Mames (Spain). Victory is like a "lifebuoy" for both teams, while the losing team will face great instability, possibly having to reshuffle the squad and change the head coach.

Despite their Premier League disappointments, Tottenham are still in with a chance of winning their first major trophy in 17 years. Tottenham won the UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984, and victory in Spain would see them become only the second English side to win the competition three times, after Liverpool.
Meanwhile, coach Ange Postecoglou is looking to continue his winning streak in his second year in charge at all his clubs. The Australian led Tottenham to the final with an impressive 5-1 win over Bodo/Glimt, where Dominic Solanke was in command in both legs of the semi-final.
After finishing fourth in the group stage, just one point behind Man Utd, Tottenham overcame AZ Alkmaar and Eintracht Frankfurt before beating Bodo/Glimt. Postecoglou's side have won nine of their 14 Europa League games this season. However, their Premier League form has been a contrast, with them sitting 17th in the table with 21 defeats from 37 games.
Tottenham lost their last game 0-2 to Aston Villa, but the London club can still find consolation in their recent clashes with Man Utd. Tottenham have beaten Man Utd three times this season, including a 3-0 win at Old Trafford and a 4-3 win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Man Utd have not won any of their last six meetings with Tottenham. Their only previous meeting in European competition was the 1963-64 Cup Winners' Cup, when the Red Devils reached the quarter-finals with a 4-3 aggregate victory.
While Tottenham are looking for their first continental title since 1984, Man Utd will be hoping to repeat their Europa League triumph in 2017, when they beat a young Ajax side that included current squad members Andre Onana and Matthijs de Ligt.
Four years later, United are in their eighth European final - only Liverpool (15) have reached more among English clubs - but a penalty shoot-out defeat to Villarreal means the Red Devils have failed to win three of their last four European Cup finals.
Man Utd shattered Athletic Bilbao's dream of a home final with a convincing 3-0 win in the first leg in the Basque Country, before completing a 4-1 triumph in the return fixture a week later.
Before their win over Bilbao, United had a tense quarter-final against Lyon. Having led by two goals in the first half of the second leg, Lyon overturned the deficit to draw 2-2 in extra time. However, two late goals brought the Red Devils level before Harry Maguire secured a 7-6 aggregate victory at Old Trafford.

Man Utd have scored 12 goals in their last three games, taking their total to 35 in this Europa League campaign. Man Utd's goalscoring record is only bettered by Borussia Monchengladbach in 1972-73 (36), Porto in 2010-11 (37) and Chelsea in 2018-19 (36).
Despite inconsistent form, Ruben Amorim's side remain unbeaten in Europe this season, aiming to become only the fourth team in the Europa League era to win the title without losing a single game.
Playing a role in giving hope to Man Utd in a difficult domestic context, Amorim became the third person to lift a major trophy in his first season, following the success of Jose Mourinho in the 2016-17 season and Erik ten Hag in the 2022-23 season.
Squad information
While coach Amorim decided to keep some of his regulars for the game against Chelsea last Saturday, Tottenham boss Postecoglou picked a weaker line-up for the clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Although Antonin Kinsky impressed against Aston Villa, the goalkeeper will be replaced by Guglielmo Vicario in the match. Rodrigo Bentancur, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro will also return to the squad.
Tottenham captain Son Heung-min is set to return from a foot injury. The South Korean star is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up. However, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall, Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin will all miss the final in Bilbao.

Dominic Solanke, supported by Son Heung-min, will lead the line for Tottenham. The Englishman has scored five goals and provided four assists in the Europa League this season, and has scored in each of his last four games against Man Utd.
Bruno Fernandes is leading the Golden Boot rankings with 7 goals, while Rasmus Hojlund, along with many other Man Utd players, is competing with 6 goals for the season.
The Man Utd captain has been in fine form in the Europa League, with only Lyon's Rayan Cherki (12) having more goal involvements than Fernandes (11) this season. The only player to have had more than Fernandes for an English club is Olivier Giroud for Chelsea in 2018-19 (15 goals).

Mason Mount and Amad Diallo made a strong impression in the second leg win over Athletic Bilbao, injecting fresh life into the earlier attacks. Matthijs de Ligt is still a doubt, though, while Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and Diogo Dalot have only just recovered from injury. Lisandro Martinez is out until next season.
Expected lineup
Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur; Johnson, Solanke, Son Heung Min
Man Utd: Onana; Lindelof, Maguire, Yoro; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dorgu; Diallo, Fernandes; Hojlund
