Replicating effective models in crime prevention and control in Thanh Tri district

STO - Currently, Thanh Tri district ( Soc Trang ) has built many effective crime prevention and control models, with active participation of the people. Thereby, contributing to preventing crime, ensuring security and order, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Long - Head of Thanh Tri District Police, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for Crime Prevention and Control, Social Evils and Building a Movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security in Thanh Tri District said that the Movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security is increasingly being promoted and receiving positive responses from all walks of life in the district, clearly demonstrated by the replication of crime prevention and control models in residential areas. During the 10 years (2013 - 2023) of implementing the Coordination Program No. 09, dated August 1, 2013 between the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations with the Ministry of Public Security on "Promoting the movement of the entire people to protect national security in the new situation", the Steering Committee for crime prevention, social evils and building the movement of the entire people to protect national security in Thanh Tri district has directed the police force to coordinate with the front, relevant sectors and organizations to guide the police of communes and towns to build models to ensure security and order at the grassroots level. At the same time, direct research and propose the construction of new effective models suitable to the characteristics of each locality, especially areas with complicated social order and safety selected for transformation.

Up to now, the whole district has 11 types of crime prevention and control models, such as: "Inter-family groups ensuring security and order" model; "Lighting up the countryside roads" model; "Roads ensuring security and order, bright, green, clean, beautiful" model; "Security keychain" model; "Security loudspeaker" model; "Security camera" model; "Prevention and control of crimes and social evils via zalo and social networks" model; "Prevention and control of crimes of property theft, using electric shocks to illegally catch aquatic products on rivers" model; "Inter-family groups for fire prevention and fighting" model; "Residential areas for security and order" model... The models in recent times have received attention and high appreciation from Party committees, authorities at all levels and people in the area, with high socialization, demonstrating consensus and solidarity between the authorities and people.

Among them, some of the most effective models are the "Security Camera" model; the "Prevention and control of crimes and social evils via Zalo and social networks" model; the " Security loudspeaker " model; " Lighting up the countryside roads " model... Through these models, information has been transmitted promptly to the people and the people have provided the police force with more than 450 valuable sources of information in the fight against crimes and social evils, contributing to ensuring good security and order in the district in recent times.

In 2019, Lam Tan commune (Thanh Tri) deployed the "Security surveillance camera" model according to the socialization policy. Up to now, the model has installed 7 cameras and 1 45-inch TV screen. Thanks to the promotion of propaganda work, the construction of the camera system in recent years has also received attention from businesses and people. After the security and order surveillance camera model was put into operation, violations of the law and social evils in the commune decreased significantly compared to before, and the security and order situation was more stable. The camera system has supported and facilitated the police force in monitoring and controlling activities taking place in the commune, thereby promptly detecting many important cases; promoting the strength of the movement of All People Protecting National Security, contributing to ensuring good security and order in the area.

Major Le Minh Truong - Head of Lam Tan Commune Police said that the Commune Police had just coordinated to arrest 2 motorbike thieves, thanks to extracting security cameras. A local resident went to work in the field, parked his motorbike on the side of the road, 2 subjects drove up, one jumped off and broke the lock of the motorbike and drove away. When the local people discovered the motorbike was missing, they reported to the Commune Police. Through extracting the camera, they saw the subjects running towards Thanh Tri district, the Commune Police informed the police of neighboring communes and Thanh Tri District Police to block and arrest the 2 subjects who stole the motorbike and the evidence, and handle them according to the provisions of the law.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Long said that in the coming time, the Steering Committee for Crime Prevention, Social Evils and Building a Movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security in Thanh Tri district will continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the Party and State's directives on ensuring security and order and building a movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security. Strengthen propaganda to raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, organizations and people in the work of building and replicating advanced models and typical examples. Organize reviews, evaluate the current situation, summarize and draw lessons to have a plan to maintain effective models, consolidate and improve the quality of operations of average or weak models. Research and build new models suitable to the conditions of each field and locality; eliminate models that are no longer effective or ineffective. Strengthening coordination between the police force and the army, the Fatherland Front and departments and organizations in building the movement of All People Protecting National Security, contributing to building a solid people's security posture, ensuring security and order, creating conditions for socio -economic development in the locality.

The construction and expansion of crime prevention and control models in the district have brought about positive results, promptly preventing criminal cases from afar, early and right at the grassroots level; preventing serious crimes, reducing the number of criminal cases and social evils.
