Rachel Gupta, the first Indian beauty to win the Miss Grand International crown in 2024, is attracting attention for her decision to give up the title just months after being crowned.

On May 28, Rachel Gupta suddenly announced her resignation from the Miss Grand International 2024 title, citing negative experiences with the Miss Grand International organization.

On the morning of May 29, Rachel Gupta released a video detailing the humiliation she had to endure for 7 months since her coronation. Rachel said that the contract between her and the organization did not guarantee her rights, causing mental damage. The beauty herself was also forced to do jobs and fulfill contracts that she did not directly sign.

Previously, the Miss Grand International 2024 contest was also embroiled in controversy when Myanmar's representative, Thae Su Nyein, won the second runner-up position but had her crown and sash removed by her national director on stage to protest the result.
This incident led to tension between Myanmar representatives and the Organizing Committee, raising controversy about the transparency and fairness of the competition.
After Rachel relinquished the title, Christine Juliane Opiaza from the Philippines, who was the first runner-up, was crowned Miss Grand International 2024.

Rachel Gupta (born 2004) grew up in India, in a family of businessmen. She is 1.78m tall, has a harmonious face, green eyes and a well-proportioned body. Since her teenage years, Rachel has shown a passion for performing arts and fashion .

In 2022, at the age of 18, she won the Miss Super Talent of the World pageant held in Paris, France, becoming the first Indian to win the title since 1970.

In August 2024, Rachel was crowned Miss Grand India 2024 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and received additional awards such as: Miss Top Model, Best in Ramp Walk, Beauty with a Purpose and Best National Costume.

In October 2024, she represented India at Miss Grand International in Bangkok, Thailand and won the crown, becoming the first Indian and the third Asian in history to win this title.

In addition to her modeling and beauty pageant career, Rachel Gupta is also a young entrepreneur. She founded a home-based beauty care center and also provides skills training courses for those who want to pursue a career in beauty.

She also actively participates in charity activities, donating more than 200,000 rupees (about 62 million VND) to support education for poor children and contributing to a child care organization in Bangkok during her time participating in international competitions.

Rachel Gupta's decision to step down from her crown has sparked a lot of discussion about the environment and how international beauty pageants operate.
