On July 3, Mori Building Co. announced that it had completed construction of Japan's tallest skyscraper in central Tokyo, with a height of 330m, 30m higher than the previously set record.

The new building is called Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower, located near the famous Tokyo Tower.

The building is the highlight of a planning project called "Azabudai Hills" in Minato district - famous for its skyscrapers and luxury apartments.

The area will officially open to visitors next fall.

Mori JP Tower has 64 floors above ground and 5 underground. The upper floors will house elite residents with amenities such as a spa provided by hotel operator Aman Resorts.

Additionally, the building houses the British School, a medical institute run by Keio University, corporate offices, shops and restaurants.

Previously, the title of tallest building in Japan belonged to Abeno Harukas in Osaka.

Mori JP Tower is expected to soon cede its title to another skyscraper being built by Mitsubishi Estate Co. near Tokyo Station, which is expected to be 390 meters tall. This project is due to be completed in fiscal 2027.
