At around 9:30 AM, many visitors to Mui Dien (also known as Mui Dai Lan, Hoa Tam commune, Dong Hoa town) spotted more than 30 dolphins, each nearly 2.5 meters long, swimming in a long line on the water's surface.
According to tour guide Anh Van Duy, the school of dolphins swam about a kilometer from Mui Dien, approximately 20 minutes away. "I've never seen such a large school of dolphins before," he said. Some tourists were delighted to witness the dolphins chasing each other in the sea, taking out their phones to film.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, head of the Dai Lanh Lighthouse Station, said that the school of dolphins usually appears in areas when the waves are calm and the sea is still. Three years ago, hundreds of dolphins swam in the waters near Hon Lao Mai Nha, Tuy An district.
Dolphins are mammals, 1.2-9.5 meters long and weighing from 40 kg to 10 tons, usually living in pods of several dozen to hundreds of individuals in shallow seas. They are one of the species of fish that are friendly to humans and can be trained to perform tricks.
