According to 9to5mac , YouTube has just released a new update for its iPhone and iPad app, right before the WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference) technology event.
This update has quietly increased the minimum operating system requirements, making some older iPhone and iPad models unusable.
Specifically, the latest version on the App Store is YouTube 20.22.1. Although the description only generally says "bug fixes, performance improvements", in fact, from this version onwards, devices must run iOS or iPadOS 16 or later to be able to use YouTube.
This means the following 7 iPhone and iPad models are no longer supported (according to MacRumors): iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (first generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4.
YouTube has just released a new update for its iPhone and iPad app.
If you're still using one of these devices, the YouTube app will no longer receive updates or technical support going forward.
Although not many people still use the first generation iPhone 6s, 7 or SE, YouTube is a very popular application on older iPad models, especially in families - where devices like the iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4 are often used by children to watch YouTube.
This discontinuation of support may cause many users, especially parents, to consider upgrading their devices if they want to continue using YouTube stably.
