Many activities of Action Month for Children

On May 30, the Provincial People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children 2025. The Department of Health presented 200 gifts to 200 children in special circumstances in Long Xuyen City; donated 30 bicycles to children in difficult circumstances from the support of SAP - Vietnam Organization and Pickleball Hippo An Giang Club. Along with that are communication activities, social mobilization to care for, educate and protect children, support each commune to have a project for children built or upgraded. Many group communication activities in the community on implementing children's rights, protecting children in natural disasters and epidemics; preventing and combating child abuse; preventing and combating child injuries, especially drowning and traffic accidents for children.

Hospitals and school counseling centers in schools should replicate social work models, deploy models to prevent and combat accidents and injuries for children, etc. Localities should deploy and launch club models related to children; organize children's forums with the theme "Listen to children speak". Organize mock trials to propagate laws related to violence and child abuse; discuss "Safe Internet usage skills for children", "Parenting skills in the 4.0 era", etc.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to organize the Swimming and Diving Competition to save drownings "Program to popularize swimming, prevent drowning accidents for children"; the launching ceremony to encourage the whole population to practice swimming to prevent drowning and the launching ceremony of "World Day for Children's Drowning Prevention in An Giang province". Developing models to promote children's participation rights, such as: Children's Rights Club, programs and activities initiated and implemented by children.

Giving gifts of love to children

On the occasion of International Children's Day June 1, the Department of Health organized a visit and presented 752 gifts, with a total cost of 188 million VND, from the provincial budget to 752 children in special circumstances in Long Xuyen City, Chau Doc City, Chau Phu District, Tinh Bien Town; students of the School for Disabled Children of An Giang Province; orphans at the Provincial Social Protection Center... In addition, a summer camp was organized for children in special circumstances with the theme "Prioritizing resources to complete goals for children" in Lam Dong Province for about 100 children in difficult circumstances with good academic achievements. Organizing sports activities for ethnic children, summer activities for children...

Many health care activities and free surgeries for children with congenital diseases, serious diseases, disabilities, motor disabilities and other diseases. Dr. Nguyen Hong Nam, Head of the Department of Population and Children (Department of Health) shared: "This is a meaningful activity showing the concern of Party committees at all levels, authorities; departments, branches, sectors, and organizations in the whole society to take care of children on the occasion of International Children's Day. Thereby, reminding the responsibility of all levels, sectors and the whole society to join hands in taking care of the cause of protecting, caring for and educating children".

Coming to receive gifts on International Children's Day, Ms. Truong Thi Chi (Chau Doc City) shared that her child has had Down syndrome for 10 years and has not been able to take care of herself or study. She is very happy to receive the attention and support of the Party and the State. Ms. Pham Thanh Xuan (Chau Phu A Ward, Chau Doc City) also said that she works for a living and has 3 children; 1 child has hyperactivity and behavioral disorders. For 11 years now, she is like a 3-year-old child and must always have someone to look after her. Every month, she receives a monthly subsidy of 1 million VND from the State. Receiving gifts on holidays and Tet also warms her heart.

According to Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc, the Party, State and authorities at all levels always consider the protection, care and education of children as the top priority in the sustainable development strategy. Up to now, An Giang has achieved many remarkable results in child care. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on: "The whole society continues to join hands to care for and protect the young generation. Propaganda and mobilize people to implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on child protection, care and education. Organize healthy recreational activities, create equal development opportunities for children, pay attention to children in difficult circumstances, disadvantaged children, children with disabilities, children in remote areas, ethnic minority children, etc., to help them eliminate the gap and keep up with the general development of society. Implement activities to guide children to equip themselves with life skills, self-protection skills; prevent and combat violence, abuse, accidents and injuries and risks affecting the comprehensive development of children. The goal is to minimize child abuse cases."
