Prosecution and temporary detention of subjects illegally using drugs

On September 22, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an arrest warrant to detain Tran Van Chung (born in 1994, residing in Son Tien quarter, My Thuan commune, An Giang province) for the crime of "Illegal use of narcotics" under Clause 1, Article 256a, Penal Code.

According to the investigation, Chung is a drug addict and is under local post-rehabilitation management. On August 6, 2025, Chung drove a motorbike to Rach Gia ward to buy drugs. Chung met a man (unknown background) and bought a package of crystal meth for 500,000 VND, bringing it home and hiding it in his bedroom.

At around 7:00 a.m. on August 7, 2025, Chung took out a package of drugs to use, then yelled, cursed, and threatened his family. Out of fear, his family went to the My Thuan commune police station to report the incident.

My Thuan Commune Police invited Chung to come in for questioning and the subject admitted to using crystal meth. According to the results of the authorities’ examination, Chung tested positive for the synthetic drug methamphetamine.
