VHO - Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung has just signed Decisions to announce the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, including many unique traditional festivals.

Accordingly, on June 3, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung signed a decision to recognize the traditional festival of the death anniversary of Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh as a national intangible cultural heritage.

The death anniversary of Lord Nguyen Huu Canh takes place on the 16th day of the 5th lunar month every year, associated with the historical relic of Nguyen Huu Canh Temple and Tomb to commemorate the contributions of the famous general Nguyen Huu Canh (1650-1700), who contributed to the expansion of the Southern territory. The death anniversary consists of 2 parts, the ceremony with traditional rituals such as incense offering, palanquin procession and the festival with unique cultural and artistic activities, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.

The death anniversary of Mr. Nguyen Huu Canh is a cultural activity of special significance. This is an opportunity for the Party Committee, the government and the people of Bien Hoa city to show gratitude to the person who opened the land. Cultural activities are organized with the participation of all classes of people, contributingto educating the tradition for the younger generation. Thereby, introducing and promoting the destination of the Nguyen Huu Canh temple relic.

*On the same day, Minister Nguyen Van Hung signed the Decision to recognize the Ba Chiem Son Festival (Duy Trinh commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Ba Chiem Son Festival is held annually from the 10th to the 12th of the first lunar month in Chiem Son village, a prosperous countryside located along the gentle Thu Bon River. The festival is an opportunity for people to commemorate the merits of Ba Chiem Son, also known as Bo Bo Thai Duong Phu Nhan, who protected and sheltered the villagers and protected the peace of the entire riverside area.

The worship of Ba Chiem Son is one of the typical manifestations of goddess worship in Vietnamese culture, reflecting a rich spiritual life with strong local identity. Not only having spiritual significance, the festival is also an opportunity for the community to rekindle the tradition of "remembering the source of drinking water", strengthening the relationship between village and neighborhood.

The Ba Chiem Son Festival, with its cultural depth and community cohesion, has become an indispensable spiritual and cultural symbol in the lives of Quang Nam residents. It is not only a place to express wishes for a peaceful and prosperous new year, but also a strong bond connecting generations in the journey of preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage.

*Previously, on June 2, Minister Nguyen Van Hung also signed and issued a Decision to announce the list of national intangible cultural heritage for Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival in 6 localities in the province, including: Nha Trang city, Cam Ranh, Ninh Hoa town and Dien Khanh, Cam Lam, Van Ninh districts.

Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival takes place on the 10th day of the 5th lunar month every year. This is a traditional custom associated with the lives of salanganes nest harvesters in Khanh Hoa nearly 700 years ago and has gone through many stages of development from primitive beliefs to important local festivals.

Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival is an opportunity for people on the islands to organize ceremonies to show gratitude and commemorate the great merits of the Ancestor, the Mother Goddess of the Salanganes Nest profession and their ancestors.

Along with the Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival, on June 3, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed a Decision to include in the list of national intangible cultural heritage the folk knowledge for "Knowledge of exploiting and processing Khanh Hoa agarwood" expanding the space in 8 localities in the province, including: Nha Trang city, Cam Ranh, Ninh Hoa town and Van Ninh, Dien Khanh, Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh, Cam Lam districts.

So far, Khanh Hoa has 6 national intangible cultural heritages, including: Ponagar Tower Festival; Raglai people's horse-waving ceremony; Fishing festival; Khanh Hoa bird's nest processing art; Khanh Hoa agarwood exploitation and processing knowledge and Khanh Hoa bird's nest festival.

*Also on this occasion, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed a Decision to recognize the art of Ca Dao (dance) of the Co people and the Tet nga ra (Sa ni) of the Co people (both of Tra Bong district, Quang Ngai province) as National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Ca Dao art is a unique dance, associated with the gong art of the Co people in Tra Bong district.

Ca Dao performances often take place during major village festivals, attracting everyone to participate and immerse themselves in the common cultural space. This is an opportunity for community members to interact, strengthen solidarity and cohesion. Ca Dao dance is also a catalyst for young men and women to become husband and wife.

Ca Dao art is not only entertaining but also contains the deep wishes of the Co people. The dance movements, especially the movement of spreading arms and looking up to the sky, express the wish for good things, a prosperous life, and a bountiful harvest.

The Rice Harvesting Festival is also one of the important traditional festivals and is considered the main festival of the Co people in the mountainous district of Tra Bong. The Rice Harvesting Festival takes place at the end of October or the beginning of November of the lunar calendar, after the people have completed the upland rice harvest.

This is an occasion for them to summarize a rice season, express their deep gratitude to the gods, especially the rice god, mountain god, river god, stream god, who have blessed them with a bountiful harvest and a prosperous life. This is also an occasion for descendants to express their respect and remember the merits of their grandparents and ancestors who have passed away. They believe that their ancestors always watch over and bless their descendants' lives.

Along with the two newly recognized festivals, Quang Ngai now has 8 national intangible cultural heritages, including 6 previously registered heritages: Hoang Sa soldier ceremony; Tu Linh boat racing festival; Truong Ba temple festival; gong art of the Cor ethnic group (Tra Bong); traditional brocade weaving and gong performance art of the Hre people (Ba To).

Traditional festivals recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as National Intangible Cultural Heritage on this occasion also include:

Traditional festival Sayangva festival (worshiping the Rice God) of the Cho Ro people in Long Khanh city, Xuan Loc district, Dinh Quan district, Thong Nhat district, Vinh Cuu district, Cam My district, Dong Nai province.

Traditional festival of Thak Con (coconut offering) of Khmer people in An Hiep commune, Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang province.

Traditional festival Ong Pagoda Festival in Tan Quang Commune, Van Lam District, Hung Yen Province.

In addition, other national intangible cultural heritages are also listed, including:

Social customs and beliefs: New rice celebration of the Si La people in Chung Chai commune, Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province.

Social customs and beliefs of the traditional wrestling festival of Co Trai village, Kien Hung commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong city.

Folk knowledge: The art of traditional costume sewing of the San Chi people in Mong Cai city, Binh Lieu district, Tien Yen district, Dam Ha district, Quang Ninh province.

Folk knowledge: The art of sewing and decorating costumes of the Dao Thanh Phan people in Ha Long city, Ba Che district, Tien Yen district, Binh Lieu district, Dam Ha district, Hai Ha district, Quang Ninh province.

Traditional handicraft: Brocade weaving of Thai people in Nghe An province.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests that the Chairmen of People's Committees at all levels where intangible cultural heritages are included in the List, within the scope of their duties and powers, carry out state management in accordance with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.
