Many typical dishes at Hai Phong Food Festival

(PLVN) - On the evening of May 10, at Nguyen Du Flower Garden, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong organized the Hai Phong Food Festival.

Speaking at the festival, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai said that as a coastal city, when mentioning Hai Phong cuisine, the first thing that must be mentioned is seafood. Hai Phong seafood dishes have the sophisticated preparation of Hanoi but the ingredients are fresher because they do not have to be transported long distances, so they have a different flavor.

Hai Phong cuisine is not too spicy, not too salty or sweet, so although it is a cuisine of the Northern people, it is also easy to enjoy for the Central and Southern people. The style of seafood processing in Hai Phong emphasizes the essence and fresh taste of the ingredients more than the sophistication in the use of spices and processing methods. In particular, the typical and popular ingredient in Hai Phong cuisine is the relatively rich source of seafood caught naturally from the seas of Do Son, Cat Hai, Bach Long Vi... or grown in ponds, cages and rafts.

The Hai Phong Food Festival will take place for 3 days, until May 12. The event attracts the participation of 23 units with more than 25 exhibition and culinary booths, gathering typical products from popular food tours that have become brands to delicious dishes, local specialties, OCOP products of districts such as: Kien Thuy braised sardines, An Tho sour sausage, crab spring rolls, crab rice noodles, baguettes, water fern cakes, chrysanthemum tea, coconut coffee...

Hai Phong Food Festival contributes to promoting Hai Phong cuisine, introducing Hai Phong street food (Foodtour), typical delicacies, local specialties associated with the Port City brand to a large number of people and domestic and foreign tourists.

On the evening of May 10, crowds of people and tourists came to enjoy Hai Phong's delicious dishes.

The festival also connects and introduces the railway tourism product - Hoa Phuong Do Train, aiming to stimulate demand and attract tourists to Hai Phong from the leading source of customers in the North, Hanoi.

The event also provides travel information, destinations, souvenirs, handmade products and thousands of vouchers for shopping and experiences.
