The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has just announced "Scholarship Support" and "Tuition Payment Extension" programs to support students from northern provinces affected by Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3).
The school is offering 100 scholarships, each worth 10 million VND, to disadvantaged students with permanent residence in 26 northern provinces directly affected by Typhoon No. 3, including: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hanoi , Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, and Thanh Hoa.
Furthermore, to alleviate the financial burden on students from the aforementioned 26 provinces and cities and their families during this difficult time, the school has also extended the deadline for tuition payment for the first semester of 2025 to January 15, 2025, instead of November 2024.
The University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) announced that it has provided 46 million VND in support to students whose families were affected by the storms and floods.
Through a review, the school identified 12 student families severely affected by Typhoon No. 3 and its aftermath. A total of 46 million VND in support was distributed to these 12 students in the following amounts: 2 million VND (7 students), 4 million VND (3 students), and 10 million VND (2 students).

With the spirit of "leaving no student behind," the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology has allocated 500 million VND from its student support fund to help full-time university students whose families have been severely affected by floods and storms.
In addition, the school provided 2,000 free meals from socialized funding to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds at the cafeteria during the period when Hanoi was heavily affected by storms and floods.
According to the first preliminary survey conducted by the University of Transport Technology , nearly 100 students were affected by the storm and its aftermath, with 20 of them facing difficult circumstances. The Board of Directors decided to allocate funds from the welfare fund to support these 20 students with 5 million VND each.
The school is committed to continuing its thorough review to identify students affected by natural disasters, floods, and those from disadvantaged families, in order to implement further support programs and ensure that no student is left behind in the recovery process following the storm.
At Hanoi University of Science and Technology , approximately 100 students shared information with the university about being affected by the storm. The Student Affairs Department and the Youth Union contacted each student individually to assist with dormitory accommodation, provide laptops, and send food and drinks.
For students whose families have been severely affected, instructors will guide them in applying for the Tran Dai Nghia Scholarship. The scholarship has two levels, equivalent to 50% and 100% of tuition fees per semester.
The National Economics University has decided to provide financial support of 1 million VND per student to full-time students whose families have suffered losses. From September 11th to 20th, students can register via the link provided by the university. The university will then transfer the support funds to the students' bank accounts.
The Foreign Trade University has identified approximately 80 students whose families have been isolated by floods, suffering property damage, and facing significant difficulties in commuting from home to school. To accommodate these students' circumstances, the university is organizing online classes and has stated that it will provide financial support to those in need.
Meanwhile, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) announced the cancellation of its opening ceremony on September 27th. The university will use the 100 million VND allocated for the ceremony to support flood victims in the North.
Many other universities are also reviewing, compiling statistics, and creating lists of students affected by the storms and floods in order to develop plans for support, both academically and financially.
