TPO – According to the Vietnam Road Administration and information from local Departments of Transport, prolonged heavy rains have caused landslides at many locations on national highways in the northern mountainous provinces. On some routes, rocks rolled down onto the road surface, causing traffic jams and threatening the safety of road users.
Accordingly, in Thanh Hoa , National Highway 15 through Quan Hoa district has some sections with slope collapse, rocks and soil falling onto the road causing traffic jams. The section through Na Tao village, Pu Nhi commune (Muong Lat) has serious landslides. The entire negative slope has collapsed for about 70m, the road surface is cracked and may continue to collapse due to prolonged heavy rain.

National Highway 32 passing through Yen Bai suffered landslides on the negative and positive slopes at some locations, with fallen trees on the road. In particular, Provincial Highway 174 (from Nghia Lo town to Tram Tau) suffered landslides in many places, making traffic difficult and causing local congestion at some points.
In Lang Son , National Highway 1B and 279 are currently flooded in more than 10 places, with fallen trees blocking traffic. National Highway 4A through Na Sam town, Van Lang district is deeply flooded.
In Son La, National Highway 32B is flooded and has collapsed slopes at two locations. National Highway 37 is blocked at two locations due to landslides and flooding.

National Highway 43 has 17 locations of congestion and some sections have collapsed negative slopes, completely losing the roadbed. The Son La Department of Transport has directed the management unit to put up warning signs at both ends of the route and widen the roadbed to the positive slopes to temporarily open the road to traffic.
In Cao Bang, Highway 34 suffered a landslide that caused traffic jams since 8am today. The management unit has organized to clear the rocks and soil so that vehicles can pass.
In Lao Cai, on National Highway 4D, at Km95+700, in O Quy Ho ward (Sa Pa town), a large landslide is occurring (30m long, 18m wide, over 3m high), causing traffic disruption from Sa Pa town to O Quy Ho pass area, Thac Bac and to Lai Chau province.

In Van Ban district, heavy rain on the night of September 7 and the morning of September 8 caused flooding and landslides at several points on National Highway 279 (through Duong Quy and Minh Luong communes), and traffic was also blocked on Provincial Road 151, through Son Thuy commune. Authorities are mobilizing to ensure traffic safety and fix the problem.
In Hoa Binh, Provincial Road 433 through Da Bac District and Hoa Binh City has experienced many serious landslides. Mud and soil have flooded the road, causing traffic congestion.

In Hai Phong and Quang Ninh areas, Mr. Dinh Trung Thanh - Director of Road Management Area I said that 4 signs indicating the entrance to Tan Vu - Lach Huyen road installed on the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway were damaged. Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Bridge (Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Road) was opened to traffic at 10:00 p.m. on September 7.
On Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road, there are some locations where trees have fallen onto the road surface. Forces are working together to cut the trees to clear the road surface.
Authorities have allowed people and vehicles to cross Kien Bridge (Hai Phong), Bai Chay Bridge in Ha Long City, Bach Dang Bridge on the Hai Phong - Ha Long Expressway, and Van Don Bridge in Quang Ninh Province.
Meanwhile, the BOT routes: Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway, Cau Gie – Ninh Binh Expressway; Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway, Cao Bo – Mai Son – Tam Diep Tunnel had no damage.
On Highway 5, there is no traffic jam. The unit is coordinating with the authorities to organize traffic flow.
