Mu Ca is the main place of residence of the Ha Nhi ethnic group, the main source of income of the people depends on cultivation and livestock raising. To help people increase their income, the Party Committee and the government have directed the villages to guide and mobilize people to change their production mindset, shifting from small-scale livestock raising to building cages and caring for them in a commercial manner. For cultivation, intensive farming increases the crop of crops; economic forest planting.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: Promoting economic development and improving the quality of life for the people is identified by the commune as the immediate priority. Therefore, the Party Committee and the Commune People's Committee issued many specialized resolutions, plans, and specific targets in agricultural production, and assigned the communes to implement them in accordance with actual conditions. At the same time, coordinate to promote the mobilization of people to change the structure of crops and livestock, apply science and technology to production stages, in order to increase labor productivity and economic efficiency.
Through programs and projects, especially the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the commune has implemented support for livelihood models for people. Associations and unions have been interested in launching and spreading emulation movements and campaigns: "Farmers compete in production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably", "Farmers compete to build new rural areas"; "Women actively study, work creatively, help each other develop the economy, build a prosperous and happy family life"... In particular, the associations: Farmers, Women, Veterans, Youth Union also provide credit with the Bank for Social Policies to entrust union members and members to borrow preferential loans to invest in production and business. According to statistics, since the beginning of the year, the commune's associations and unions have supported 384 member households and union members to borrow capital with a total outstanding debt of over 20.2 billion VND. This capital source is being used effectively; Borrowers pay interest and principal on time as prescribed.
In particular, the villages of Go Cu and Phin Kho mobilized people to reclaim and expand the rice fields to make the most of the water source from the Phin Kho irrigation cluster. People in other villages in the commune also proactively changed their farming habits, from digging holes, sowing seeds, and monocropping rice and corn, to mechanizing land preparation, increasing cropping intensity, and preventing pests and diseases. In livestock farming, they built cages, cleaned the environment regularly, and focused on care instead of letting them roam freely as before. In addition, many households invested in planting cinnamon, fruit trees, and cardamom.
Mr. Thao A Tua in Cu Macao residential area shared: With the propaganda, mobilization and "hand-holding" of commune officials and border guards, my family boldly planted 5 hectares of cinnamon trees on the hilly land that had been left fallow for many years. Thanks to active care, the entire cinnamon area has grown well, the branches and leaves have been pruned and sold, and in about 1-2 years, the bark will be peeled.
The whole Mu Ca commune has a total cultivated area of 299.5 hectares, the total output of grain crops is about 1,270 tons/year; 13.7 hectares of fruit trees, cinnamon. Along with that, people promote livestock farming, proactively prevent and control diseases with a total herd of 1,462 cattle and 3,980 poultry, the annual herd growth rate is about 5%. In the commune, there are 19 small-scale business and trading establishments; 70 aquaculture households, concentrated in the villages: Phin Kho, Go Cu, Ma Ky, Xi Ne, Mu Ca.
With the advantage of many streams, the commune has 3 hydropower companies: Nam Ma 3, Nam Ma 1A, Nam Ma 2A to survey and invest in factories, contributing to creating jobs for local workers, promoting local socio-economic development.
With the efforts of the local Party Committee and government and the proactive efforts of the people, the average income of the commune will reach over 30 million VND/person/year in 2024; the poverty rate will gradually decrease over the years, and the material and spiritual life of the people will improve. This is an important premise for the commune to successfully implement the targets and plans for the 2025-2030 term.
