Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) (HoSE: ACB) has just announced a report on changes in ownership by major shareholders and investors holding 5% or more of the capital. Accordingly, Ms. Ngo Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Au Lac Joint Stock Company (UPCoM: ALC), purchased an additional 6.3 million ACB shares on May 19th, increasing her holdings to 71.29 million units, equivalent to 1.39% of the bank's charter capital.

In addition to direct ownership, individuals and organizations related to Ms. Thuy, including Mr. Nguyen Duc Hieu Johnny, Ms. Nguyen Thien Huong Jenny, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hinh, Ms. Mai Phi Lan, and Thien Huong International Education Village JSC, currently hold a total of approximately 237.8 million ACB shares, equivalent to 4.63% of the charter capital.

Overall, the group of shareholders associated with the Chairman of Au Lac currently owns more than 309 million ACB shares, equivalent to approximately 6.02% of the bank's capital.

Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thien Huong Jenny - daughter of Ms. Ngo Thu Thuy and Mr. Nguyen Duc Hinh - also completed the purchase of nearly 8.4 million ACB shares on May 4th. After the transaction, Ms. Huong's personal ownership increased to over 118 million shares, equivalent to 2.3% of ACB's charter capital, while bringing the group's total ownership to approximately 6% of the bank's capital.

However, transaction data shows that during the period from May 4th to 19th, the Au Lac group also sold a large amount of ACB shares. After deducting the shares sold, the group made net purchases of approximately 800,000 shares, thereby maintaining an ownership stake of over 6% and continuing to be a major shareholder in ACB.

At the 2026 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held in early April, Mr. Tran Hung Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACB, stated that the Au Lac group of shareholders has been with the bank for over 20 years. According to ACB's leadership, the group's ownership stake has fluctuated around 5% at times, depending on the investment structure, but their commitment to long-term partnership with the bank remains. ACB also expects this group of shareholders to continue their partnership in the bank's future development stages.

Conversely, foreign shareholders tend to reduce their ownership stake in ACB. According to the updated list of shareholders holding more than 1% of the charter capital as of May 18th, three foreign funds, namely Smallcap World Fund, Inc., Boardwalk South Limited, and VOF PE Holding 5 Limited, have all significantly reduced their holdings of ACB shares compared to July 2024.

Specifically, Smallcap World Fund, Inc. reduced its holdings from over 112 million shares (2.51% of capital) to approximately 76.7 million shares, equivalent to 1.494% of charter capital. Boardwalk South Limited reduced its holdings from over 82.2 million shares to over 43 million shares, equivalent to 0.839% of capital, meaning it is no longer on the list of shareholders owning more than 1% of ACB's capital.

Meanwhile, VOF PE Holding 5 Limited, a subsidiary of VinaCapital, divested its entire holding of approximately 76.6 million ACB shares. In total, these three foreign shareholders have sold more than 150 million ACB shares recently.

Regarding business performance, ACB's consolidated financial report for the first quarter of 2026 recorded pre-tax profit of VND 5,368 billion , a 17% increase compared to the same period last year. After- tax profit reached VND 4,320 billion , a 17.5% increase. In 2026, ACB aims for a pre-tax profit of VND 22,338 billion , an increase of more than 14% compared to the 2025 results. Thus, after the first quarter, the bank has completed approximately 24% of its full-year profit plan.

As of March 31st, ACB's total assets reached approximately 1.03 trillion VND , a slight increase compared to the end of the previous year.
