The ban comes after a female soldier admitted during her military service to having an “intimate relationship” with a Palestinian prisoner who is serving a life sentence for carrying out a deadly attack on Israeli civilians.
Under Israeli law, women are required to serve at least two years in the military and men must complete 32 months of service.
The names of the female soldier, who was captured, and the Palestinian prisoner were not released.
The court ruling also requires that details such as the name of the detention camp not be made public.
The Jerusalem Post reported that during questioning, the female soldier revealed that four other female prison guards had also had "intimate relationships" with the same prisoner.

The Israel Prison Service (IPS) confirmed that the Palestinian prisoner was transferred to an isolation cell before being questioned.
Minister Ben-Gvir and IPS chief Katy Perry said female soldiers would not be assigned to positions in high-security prisons holding Palestinian “terrorists”.
Specifically, Mr. Ben-Gvir said that by mid-2025 "there will be no more female soldiers present in high-security prisons."
