The cars rolled, carrying the working group of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering, Military Hospital 354 and a number of units, benefactors and many meaningful gifts to Tuan Son commune, Lang Son province. On the car, everyone was excited, because more than a business trip, this was an opportunity to share and get closer to the people in the highlands.

Agencies, units and philanthropists give bicycles to poor students overcoming difficulties in Tuan Son commune, Lang Son province.

The gratitude journey began with the first stop being the spacious new house of Mr. Hung Minh Cay and his wife in Van Mieu village. Previously, due to old age and poor health, they had to live in a dilapidated, run-down house without the means to repair it. Now, thanks to the care and attention of the Army and local authorities, a new, solid and warm home has appeared. At the moment of receiving the house, the couple's eyes filled with tears, they held the hands of the group members as if to express their gratitude.

Saying goodbye to Mr. Cay's family, the group continued to spread out in many directions. In the simple houses, the gray-haired veterans still enthusiastically told stories about the time of bombs and bullets, about their fallen comrades on the battlefield. Some were wounded soldiers, their bodies still clearly marked by battle wounds, walking with a limp, but their voices were still hearty, their eyes still shining with the pride of soldiers of the past. Their stories made the members of the working group more respectful and grateful for the silent sacrifices of their predecessors. The doctors and nurses of the 354 Military Hospital enthusiastically measured blood pressure, examined patients, dispensed medicine, gave gifts and reminded each person to take care of their health. That warm atmosphere seemed to erase the distance, making the relationship between the army and the people even closer.

The delegation talked with Mr. Hung Minh Cay's family in their new house.

Not only in families with preferential policies, this affection is also sent to schools in the highlands. When the group stopped at Thon Moi School, the children rushed out into the yard, chirping with laughter, their clear eyes following the special guests. The whole school yard suddenly became unusually bustling. Gifts such as: water purifiers, electric fans, warm blankets, books, school supplies... were handed to teachers and each child. It was not only practical support but also encouragement for teachers to be more steadfast in their journey of spreading knowledge in the border so that students have more faith and determination to nurture their dreams. It is known that on this working trip, the General Department of Logistics and Technology, Military Hospital 354, along with other units and philanthropists, mobilized nearly 200 million VND to organize practical policy activities.

Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Du, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Hospital 354, shared: “Each trip to the people is not only an opportunity to give gifts and examine patients, but more importantly, it allows us to be close to the people, listen and understand. Through that, each officer, doctor and nurse of the Hospital is trained and fostered a sense of responsibility, continuing the tradition and morality of “remembering the source of water when drinking” and “repaying gratitude” that the Army always preserves.”
