Ms. Le Thi Lien, a veteran, shared that she lives in Hanoi and was very happy to receive an invitation to watch the parade rehearsal today. "My leg hurts but I try to go because this is both an honor and a source of pride," Ms. Lien said.
She said: "In the past, I participated in the C battlefield, working in Laos for 5 years. In 1975, when the South was completely liberated, I went to watch the parade. Those beautiful images were deeply ingrained in my mind, making me dream of becoming a soldier. That dream later came true. In 1976, I officially enlisted in a unit under the Engineering Command."

Ms. Lien also said that on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, she really wanted to go to the A50 parade, but it was too far away. And now, right in the middle of Hanoi, after retiring, she has the opportunity to watch the 80th anniversary of National Day, once again seeing all the images of our army growing strong through the parade and marching at the historic Ba Dinh Square.
"I was really happy and excited, so early in the morning, my grandmother and I came here to wait. Because I was once a soldier, lived through hardships and life and death moments on the battlefield, now living in peace , I am both proud and appreciative of my country. I also want to spread and pass on this sacred feeling to my children and grandchildren," Ms. Lien said emotionally.
Mr. Nguyen Van Mua (born in 1950), a veteran of Division 304, participated in the resistance war against the US from Tuyen Quang , today he and his partner went to watch the parade. Because he had difficulty moving, the functional forces of Hanoi City Police on duty at Van Cao - Thuy Khue checkpoint supported and helped him move smoothly to the parade viewing point. That gesture made Mr. Mua very emotional.

Joining the crowd waiting for the moment of the parade rehearsal, Ms. Ninh Thi Ty, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Ho Guom Group Corporation, Hero of Labor in the renovation period, was moved to see the young generations eagerly welcoming the great holiday.
"I saw patriotism through the way young people expressed their excitement, pride, and anticipation of watching the parade. I was also very happy to be invited to attend the rehearsal. I was very happy and proud, my children. The overwhelming emotions cannot be expressed in words. I am happy to see patriotism spread to young people," Labor Hero Ninh Thi Ty shared.

Also from Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, 76 years old, Ha Dong ward, a veteran, went with his family at noon. His family chose the corner of Hoang Van Thu and Hoang Dieu streets to wait until evening to watch the parade.

"All 14 of us in my family came here to watch. We were very excited. I fought in Quang Tri and witnessed the sacrifices of many of my comrades. I feel very lucky to live in the independence, freedom and happiness of today. Our generation sacrificed blood and bones so that our children, grandchildren, and future generations could enjoy a peaceful life. These days, the heroic atmosphere of the whole country has made me feel young again," said Ms. Quynh excitedly.

Traveling with his family from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi this afternoon, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, an 82-year-old veteran who fought in the Southern battlefield, Division 5 of the Southeast region, also expressed his joy when walking among the forest of flags and flowers. Mr. Son said: "With 45 years of military service, 60 years of Party membership, seeing our country develop and life in peace, I am extremely happy. Looking back at the difficult days, I can see the value of peace. I hope everyone will try to preserve the achievements of the past 80 years of revolution. Walking among the forest of colorful flags and flowers like this makes me see how beautiful our country is."
