Having arrived in the Dak Phoi area in 1974, when everything was still undeveloped, Mr. Nie Sieng in Jie Yuk village started from scratch. He single-handedly cleared and cultivated each plot of land to build his livelihood. Over nearly half a century, he and his family members have transformed their initial farmland into a valuable asset.
Currently, Mr. Niê Siêng's family owns a 3-hectare coffee plantation, systematically intercropped with various high - value crops. This diverse cropping system includes cocoa, pepper, and several other fruit trees, all of which are in a stable production phase, creating a sustainable source of income for the family.

Recalling the difficult early days, Mr. Niê Siêng confided: “Previously, because production was done manually, relying mainly on experience, productivity and output were not high. There were times when agricultural product prices dropped low, and after deducting input costs, the family's income was negligible. In recent years, with the advent of technology, farming has become easier, but it has brought in significantly higher economic efficiency.” Regarding this, Mr. Niê Siêng explained: The application of scientific methods of care, fertilization, and pest control has helped his family's orchard achieve high yields. In recent years, his family has harvested more than 10 tons of coffee beans annually. In addition, income is regularly supplemented by intercropped plants such as cocoa and pepper...
Now advanced in age, Mr. Niê Siêng no longer directly shoulders the heavy work of farming as before. He has entrusted all the care and exploitation of his perennial orchards to his children and grandchildren. He frequently reminds them to always preserve the land and the farming profession to develop the economy and build a prosperous life for their families. In 2024, thanks to a stable income from farming, Mr. Niê Siêng's family built a spacious new house, covering an area of 200 m², worth up to 2.5 billion VND.
In Liêng Keh hamlet, about 3 km from the center of Đắk Phơi commune, the economic model of Mr. Y Sia Rlưk's family is a shining example for other villagers to learn from. On an area of 2.5 hectares, his family has built a closed-loop garden-pond-livestock model, bringing high economic efficiency.
Mr. Y Sia skillfully combined crop cultivation (coffee, cocoa, pepper) with livestock farming. Besides his main crops, he maintained a diverse range of livestock: fish ponds, cattle, goats, chickens, and ducks. This combination helped his family avoid the risks of fluctuating commodity prices. In particular, the abundant organic fertilizer from livestock farming was directly reused for the crops, significantly reducing input costs while simultaneously improving soil fertility and contributing to increased crop yields and production.

Mr. Y Sia Rlưk shared that the secret to his family's integrated economic model achieving an income of over 1 billion VND per year is not luck, but rather a shift in mindset from traditional experience to applying science and technology to all stages of production. For him, in modern agriculture , the application of technology plays a crucial role.
