Ideal locations to watch the parade and march on the morning of September 2nd.
Residents and tourists can choose observation points on many streets in the wards of Ba Dinh, Ngoc Ha, Cua Nam, Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, Hai Ba Trung, Tay Ho, and My Dinh.
Here are some suggested viewing locations for the parade:
Hung Vuong - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Hang Chao intersection
This is one of the most ideal observation points, where people can get a complete view of the parade, as it is the point where the marching contingents leave Ba Dinh Square and begin to split into different directions.
The marching contingents along lines 1 and 2 turn left onto Nguyen Thai Hoc Street. Line 3 turns right onto Kim Ma Street. Line 5 proceeds straight towards Hang Day Stadium.
However, this spot witnesses all sorts of processions, but the lines are often uneven and quite chaotic because they have to change direction. People might consider standing a few hundred meters before or after this spot.
Cua Nam - Trang Thi intersection
The parade route 1, heading towards Trang Thi-Hang Khay-Trang Tien, will pass through the Cua Nam intersection. This is a spacious area with many directions for finding a vantage point, exiting, or moving easily.
Transportation in this area is well-connected, accessible via numerous bus routes, or within walking distance from Hanoi train station or the Old Quarter. The surrounding houses and shops on Hang Bong Street can be easily observed from the upper floors.
Le Duan - Nguyen Thai Hoc intersection
This location isn't spacious, but it's conveniently situated to witness the parade of columns number 1 and 2 passing by.
This intersection is only a little over 1 km from Ba Dinh Square, so people don't have to wait as long as at Trang Tien - Opera House intersection.
However, because the area is rather crowded, it will be difficult to find a place to stand and it will take a long time to get out after the parade.
Hang Khay - Trang Tien intersection
This is near the end of the first parade route. Since the parade starts from Ba Dinh Square, residents and tourists who arrive late still have time to watch the parade at the end, but they should avoid standing at the end of Trang Tien Street, near the Opera House, as the parade will have finished by then.
There are many entertainment options, restaurants, and cafes around this area. The roads leading around Hoan Kiem Lake are wide, so traffic will quickly clear after the parade ends, making it especially suitable for families with young children and tourists from afar. Tourists staying in the Old Quarter should also consider watching the parade from this location.
This interchange is also easily accessible for those traveling on the Nhon-Hanoi Station elevated train line. From the Cau Giay terminal, it's about a 15-minute walk.
Tran Phu - Nguyen Tri Phuong Street
The parade columns along routes 6 and 7, consisting of tracked and wheeled tanks, will pass through this section of the road.
This area has virtually no residential buildings; it's mostly occupied by government offices, embassies, hospitals, and parks, so it's unlikely to be as crowded as other streets. The sidewalks here are also quite wide.
Le Hong Phong - Ngoc Ha - Doi Can intersection
This location offers ample, airy space. It is expected that several parade and marching contingents will pass through along two routes towards Kim Mã and Bách Thảo Park.
Kim Ma - Lieu Giai intersection
These are locations with many elevated vantage points from which to observe the parade, such as the Nguyen Chi Thanh overpass, Lotte Center Hanoi building, Hanoi Daewoo Hotel, Capital Palace building, Vincom Metropolis apartment complex, and Lieu Giai Tower apartment complex.
Lieu Giai - Van Cao Street
These two streets are very long, allowing people to observe the entire parade and procession and get many beautiful views.
Quan Ngua Stadium
This is the final point of the parade route, a suitable location for people to gather and watch the parade, marking the end of the mass performance.
Vo Chi Cong Street, Tran Duy Hung Street
These are the two routes where the parade of wheeled vehicles will travel. Both routes are very long, wide, and lined with tall buildings, allowing people to observe the entire parade and procession.
Le Quang Dao Street - F1 Racetrack
Le Quang Dao is the route used by convoys of wheeled vehicles, leading to the F1 racetrack, the final staging point for a variety of modern equipment, weapons, and military hardware.
In addition to the specific points mentioned above, residents and tourists can choose to stand along the streets to comfortably and safely watch the event, following the specific routes of the parade.
Things to keep in mind when attending a parade or march.
- It's best to arrive early, between 4:30 and 5:00 AM, to choose a good spot before the ceremony begins at 6:30 AM.
- If you can't find a good spot, you can watch live via a system of 270 LED screens placed along the routes and 400 loudspeakers for support.
- The processions will pass through many central routes such as Nguyen Thai Hoc - Kim Ma - Lieu Giai - Le Duan - Trang Thi - Hang Khay - Ngoc Ha.
- Avoid standing at the very end of the route: Refrain from standing too close to the Grand Theatre at the end of the route, as it will be difficult to observe the entire view and you'll be more likely to be crowded.
