(LĐ online) - Since the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam , human rights have always been a consistent goal throughout the revolutionary process. From the first Constitution in 1946 to the Constitution in 2013, human rights and civil rights have been affirmed to be respected and guaranteed.
The 2013 Constitution, Article 14, affirms: “In the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, human rights and citizens' rights in the political , civil, economic, cultural and social fields are recognized, respected, protected and guaranteed in accordance with the Constitution and the law.” |
However, in recent times, in order to carry out their plots and activities against the Vietnamese revolution, hostile and reactionary forces have always thoroughly exploited the human rights issue, constantly using distorted arguments and slandering Vietnam for violating basic human rights, religious freedom, and discrimination; arresting and detaining many "political prisoners", "prisoners of conscience"... Among the reactionary organizations that always seek to sabotage Vietnam, it is impossible not to mention the reactionary organization Viet Tan.
In recent days, taking advantage of International Human Rights Day (December 10), Viet Tan has been actively releasing articles and video clips with distorted comments and arguments, aiming to distort and fabricate the human rights situation in Vietnam.
Specifically, Viet Tan has published articles: "The painful situation of human rights in Vietnam", "Human rights and the communist regime in Vietnam"; "The Vietnamese government continues to violate the signed human rights convention"; "Looking back at human rights in Vietnam: heard but never seen" and a series of video clips about protests (which they claim are: protests of Vietnamese people all over the world: Germany, the US, France, Australia, Norway, ... condemning the Vietnamese communist government for suppressing human rights and calling on the international community to pay attention to the situation in Vietnam)...
From the above articles and video clips, Viet Tan exaggerates that: “Vietnam is constantly criticized for its human rights situation. The Vietnamese government severely restricts the basic freedoms of its citizens, especially freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and the right to participate in politics”; and that: “After half a century of war, Vietnam still has no human rights”; “Human rights in Vietnam are a hoax”,…
Viet Tan's ridiculous distortions are just biased and incorrect comments; they deliberately make accusations and slander about human rights issues in Vietnam in order to incite people to oppose the government, violate the law and encourage acts of defamation, disturbance, and sabotage against the Party, State, and regime by hostile forces, reactionary elements, and opportunists.
Viet Tan Organization Announces Le Dinh Luong Human Rights Award 2021 |
One of the rather ridiculous actions of Viet Tan that cannot be ignored is that: Viet Tan continues to maintain the annual Le Dinh Luong Human Rights Award. It should be added that: Le Dinh Luong was sentenced by the People's Court of Nghe An province to 20 years in prison for "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government" in 2018. Le Dinh Luong is a member of Viet Tan. During the period from 2015 to 2017, Le Dinh Luong used Facebook under the name "Lo Ngoc" to make friends, get acquainted, and entice Nguyen Van Hoa (who was sentenced by the People's Court of Ha Tinh province to 7 years in prison for "Propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" in November 2017)...
On December 10, Viet Tan announced the 2024 Le Dinh Luong Human Rights Award to Y Krec Byă (this subject is called the Preacher by Viet Tan). Y Krec Byă was sentenced to prison twice by the Dak Lak Provincial People's Court (August 2004: 8 years in prison and March 2024: 13 years in prison) for the crime of "undermining the solidarity policy". In court (March 2024), Y Krec Byă admitted all his crimes and realized that the so-called "Evangelical Church of Christ in the Central Highlands" was actually just taking advantage of him to divide ethnic minorities from the Kinh people, divide the Ede people from other ethnic groups...
Since 2018, Viet Tan has often embellished this award with the words: “The Le Dinh Luong Human Rights Award will be a concrete effort to contribute to the struggle for human rights and freedom of the Vietnamese people.” The “birth” of an award to “honor” a traitor to the Fatherland is a farce of the reactionary organization Viet Tan.
Not stopping there, Viet Tan also claims that: More than 160 people are currently imprisoned in Vietnam for peacefully exercising their basic rights, both civil and political. In the first 10 months of 2023, courts convicted at least 28 human rights defenders and sentenced them to long prison terms. Among them are Truong Van Dung, Nguyen Lan Thang, Tran Van Bang, Bui Tuan Lam and Dang Dang Phuoc…
But in reality, the subjects they mentioned were all subjects who violated the law, committed crimes according to the provisions of the Penal Code, so they were arrested and investigated; some subjects were brought to trial and sentenced with completely correct sentences for the right person and crime.
Therefore, the “accusations” that Viet Tan has made are just fallacies, are out of place voices… causing division in national unity, causing the People to lose confidence in our Party and State. Therefore, each of us must be extremely vigilant.
In fact, in Vietnam, the Party and State have issued guidelines, policies, laws to create a political and legal foundation, respecting, ensuring and protecting the people's right to mastery. After nearly 40 years of national renovation, the Party and State have always been consistent in the policy of "respecting, ensuring and protecting the rights, powers and obligations of citizens". All decisions come from the people; all development achievements are aimed at ensuring the best human rights. Vietnam's efforts, initiatives and contributions in promoting and protecting human rights have been supported and agreed upon by other countries, and recognized and highly appreciated by the international community...
Vietnam has passed many important legal documents related to human rights and civil rights; has been reviewing and amending a number of laws in accordance with international commitments; joined international conventions on human rights as well as seriously implemented the conventions. Currently, Vietnam has joined 7/9 basic international conventions on human rights, 25 international conventions on labor rights of the International Labor Organization (ILO); negotiated and officially joined the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM)...
The United Nations also recognizes Vietnam as one of the leading countries in achieving the Millennium Development Goals. In 2022, Vietnam's Human Development Index (HDI) is 0.726, among the countries with high HDI in the world, especially compared to countries with higher levels of development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh once affirmed: "The greatest human right in Vietnam is to care for 100 million people to have prosperity and happiness, democracy, a peaceful life, security, safety, and people's safety, and to maximize the human factor."
That is the truth, the most concrete evidence to refute all distortions and defamations of human rights issues in Vietnam by hostile forces in general and the reactionary organization Viet Tan in particular.
