The 2025 admissions season has seen a significant drop in admission scores at many universities. However, with attractive majors, experts predict that admission scores will remain high.
Education
In 2024, Pedagogy is one of the four majors with the highest number of candidates registering, with an increase of up to 85% compared to the previous year. The benchmark score therefore also skyrocketed, approaching the absolute threshold. This attraction is driven by special preferential policies: free tuition, living allowance support and high employment opportunities after graduation.
According to experts, the fact that the two leading teacher training colleges in the country, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, have expanded their own entrance exams in 2025, while the number of candidates registering to attend has increased sharply compared to the previous year, is clear evidence of the strong attraction of this industry.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam, Vice Rector of the University of Education , Vietnam National University, Hanoi, commented that the benchmark scores for Pedagogy majors in 2025 will continue to remain at the same level as in 2024, and may even increase sharply. This increase comes not only from enrollment needs but also from the positive psychological impact before the Law on Teachers officially takes effect from January 1, 2026, creating a big "push" in terms of spirit and professional status.
"The law not only affirms the key role of teachers in the national education system, but also provides a series of specific preferential policies, such as: Teachers' salaries are ranked at the highest level in the public career system; there are preferential allowances for the profession; regional allowances, responsibility allowances; and retirement policies suitable for each level of education and each region. These are all policies that are creating great expectations for the future generation of teachers," Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam affirmed.
Semiconductor, Artificial Intelligence
This year, most universities enrolling students in majors/specializations in Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors announced quite high minimum scores. This shows that the attraction of these two fields to candidates has not shown any signs of cooling down.
At Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the majors expected to have the highest benchmark scores: Computer Science , Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (advanced program) are all above 27.8.
The majors of Computer Engineering, Information Technology (Global ICT), Digital Space Security (advanced program), Control Engineering - Automation, Microelectronics Engineering and Nanotechnology, and Vietnam - Japan Information Technology are expected to have a benchmark score of 26.5-28.

The University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi also expects the admission score for Computer Science and Information Technology, AI to be 24 points. Notably, the university’s Artificial Intelligence major, which was among the top majors with admission scores of over 27 points last year, is expected to maintain its high score this year.
According to Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Permanent Deputy Director of Duy Tan University, the Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductor Technology majors in recent years have required candidates to not only be good at Math, Physics, and Chemistry, but also have a solid foundation in English. Most of the specialized documents are in English, so foreign language requirements are very important. For this reason, the competition rate of both majors in previous years was often not too high, creating great opportunities for candidates to be admitted.
However, this may change this year. “ Before 2024, many people did not clearly understand what artificial intelligence or semiconductors were, but from the beginning of 2025, these keywords were mentioned a lot. Therefore, I predict that recruiting for these majors this year may be more difficult, with a higher level of competition,” Mr. Hai further analyzed.
Medical Industry
This year, the top schools in the Medical and Pharmaceutical group expect the benchmark scores to remain high, especially for the Medical major.
At Hanoi Medical University, Associate Professor Dr. Le Dinh Tung, Vice Principal of the school, predicted that the benchmark score for the Medical major may still be above 28 points. The lower groups of majors are expected to decrease slightly, following the general trend of this year's high school graduation exam score range.
Last year, the admission score to Hanoi Medical University based on high school graduation exam scores ranged from 19 to 28.83. The highest score was in Psychology in group C00. If only counting the traditional group B00, Medicine took the lead with 28.27 points. The lowest score was 19 points applied to the majors of Medical Laboratory Technology and Rehabilitation Technology at the Thanh Hoa branch.
Last year, Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy set the standard score for the medical major at 27.15 points; while the same score at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy was 27.8 points.
